جوجل تعلن رسميا عن حاسبها اللوحي Pixel C بنظام أندرويد !!

كشفت شركة جوجل أمس، رسميًا عن الحاسب اللوحي “بكسل سي” Pixel C الذي يعمل بنظام التشغيل أندرويد، والذي يبدو أنه يأتي لمنافسة الحاسبين اللوحيين “سيرفس” من مايكروسوفت و “آيباد برو” من آبل.
وجاءت مواصفات الحاسب اللوحي الجديد متطابقة مع التسريبات التي بدأت بالظهور اليوم فقط، إذ يقدم الجهاز شاشة بقياس 10.2 بوصة وبدقة 2550×1800 بكسل مع كثافة 308 بكسلات في البوصة ومع إضاءة خلفية قدرها 500 شمعة.
ويضم الجهاز معالجًا رباعي النوى من نوع “إنفيديا إكس1” NVIDIA X1، ومعالج رسوميات من نوع “ماكسول” Maxwell، بالإضافة إلى ذاكرة وصول عشوائي “رام” قدرها 3 جيجابايتات، و 32 أو 64 جيجابايتًا من مساحة التخزين الداخلية.
ويأتي الحاسب منسجمًا فيما يتعلق بالتصميم مع سلسلة “كروم بوك بكسل” من الحاسبات المحمولة التي تعمل بنظام التشغيل السحابي “كروم أو إس”، إذ يقدم تصميمًا معدنيًا مع لوحة مفاتيح قابلة للفك ترتبط بالهاتف مغناطيسيًا وعبر تقنية البلوتوث.
وأوضحت جوجل أن لوحة المفاتيح، التي تأتي مصنوعة من الألمنيوم أو الجلد، لا تحتاج لمسند إذ يمكن تثبيت الحاسب بعد أن يلتصق مع اللوحة بزاوية 100 أو 135 درجة.
وتعتزم شركة جوجل طرح حاسبها اللوحي الجديد “بكسل سي” Pixel C، الذي يضم منفذ “يو إس بي” من نوع “سي” USB Type-C، بسعر 499 دولارًا أميركيًا لطراز 32 جيجابايتًا، وبسعر 599 دولارًا لطراز 64 جيجابايتًا، ولوحة المفاتيح بسعر 149 دولارًا، وذلك خلال شهر تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر القادم.
يُشار إلى أن الشركة أعلنت إلى جانب “بكسل سي” عن الهاتفين الذكيين “نيكسوس 6بي” Nexus 6P، و “نيكسوس 5إكس” Nexus 5X، بالإضافة إلى إصدار جديد من جهاز البث “كروم كاست” Chromecast، وجهاز آخر هو “كروم كاست أوديو”.

Luleå warehouse is the most energy efficient computing facility ever built !

From the outside, it looks like an enormous grey warehouse. Inside, there is a hint of the movie Bladerunner: long cavernous corridors, spinning computer servers with flashing blue lights and the hum of giant fans. There is also a long perimeter fence. Is its job to thwart corporate spies? No – it keeps out the moose.

Welcome to the Node Pole, a hi-tech hub in Luleå, northern Sweden, and the site of Facebook’s first datacentre outside the US. The warehouse opened in 2013 and is set amid a green pine forest, lakes and an archipelago. The Arctic Circle is just down the road. A second centre next door is due to be completed later this year.

Facebook has four giant datacentres in the US, its newest at Fort Worth in Texas. The construction of the Swedish data halls is in response to the huge amounts of electronic data being generated around the world, at a rate that doubles roughly every 18 months.

In Facebook’s case, this means 350m photographs a day, 4.5bn likes and 10bn messages. The chances are that if you upload a selfie in London, or post a status update in Paris, your data will be stored in Luleå, home to migrating reindeer and the northern lights. Pull up a 2008 photo and it will be conjured from a server here too, with data storage now a multi-billion dollar industry.

According to Facebook, its Luleå warehouse is the most energy efficient computing facility ever built. It is cold in the Node Pole: winter averages -20C (-4F). Freezing air from outside is pumped into the building. It acts as a natural coolant, with hot air generated by the servers circulating out. Walls of axial fans keep temperatures constant.

The location was also chosen for its electricity supply. A century ago, Sweden began building hydroelectric dams for its steel, iron ore and pulp and paper industries. These have declined – though Luleå’s waterfront steel mill is still in business – leaving the northern region, Norrland, with a power surplus. Facebook’s datacentre uses as much energy as the steel plant.

Uber seeks legal advice after New South Wales suspends registration of 40 cars

Roads and Maritime Services say taxi and hire car services must have authorised and accredited operators and a licensed and insured vehicle

Uber says it is “shocked” and seeking legal advice after 40 of its New South Wales drivers had their vehicle registration suspended.

Roads and Maritime Services director of safety and compliance Peter Wells said the government was cracking down on those who allowed their vehicles to be used for illegal ride-sharing

Taxi drivers have called on state governments to ensure Uber drivers pay the same licence and registration fees as they do.

Taxi and hire car services must have authorised and accredited operators and a licensed and insured vehicle, an RMS spokesman confirmed on Monday.

Uber said it was waiting for the NSW government to sensibly regulate the industry.

“We are shocked that the Roads and Maritime Services did not appear to show these drivers any due process and we are reviewing the legal options to reverse this decision,” Uber said on Monday.

Wells said the suspensions were only the latest moves against illegal services.

“Thousands of dollars in fines have already been issued to drivers offering illegal ride-sharing activities and compliance actions will continue,” he said. “If drivers continue to offer illegal ride-sharing services, they will continue to risk registration suspensions and fines.”

The 40 UberX suspensions will take effect from midnight on Wednesday for three months.

If a suspended vehicle is found on the road after 1 October, the vehicle is deemed unregistered and uninsured, with penalties of $637 for each offence, increasing to about $2,200 if heard in court, the RMS spokesman said.

An independent taskforce has been established by the NSW government to assess the future of the taxi, hire car and ride-sharing industry.

Facebook down for second time in a week !

Users were unable to access social networking site on Monday afternoon, following similar outage on Thursday
Facebook was inaccessible for some users on Monday afternoon, its second outage in less than a week.

The company’s shares were down nearly 4% at $89.25 (£58.83) in afternoon trading.

Facebook’s map on downdetector.com, which monitors disruptions, showed major outages over parts of North America and elsewhere.

The social network’s mobile app appeared to be down as well, but Messenger services seem to be working.

A message displayed on facebook.com said: “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”

Facebook suffered a similar outage last Thursday when it was down in North America, Europe, Australia and India.

ما هي أكثر العلامات التجارية نمواً في سوق الهواتف الذكية؟

نشرت شركة Counterpoint المتخصصة بأبحاث السوق تقريرها الخاص بالربع الثاني من عام 2015، والذي يلخص بدقة كيفية تحرك سوق الهواتف والشركات الخاصة به.

ويشير التقرير إلى أن عام 2015 كان عاماً حافلاً بالأحداث في مجال صناعة الهواتف الذكية، حيث تناضل شركات كبرى مثل سامسونغ وإتش تي سي وسوني من أجل استمرارها في الربح والتسويق، في حين أصبح السوق الهندي واحداً من أكثر الأسواق تنافسية حول العالم وبسرعة قياسية.

ويظهر التقرير نمو كبير على الصعيد العالمي فيما يخص شحنات الهواتف الذكية، وان هنالك نمو كبير في الاعتماد على تقنية الجيل الرابع للاتصالات في الهواتف، حيث يشير التقرير إلى زيادة من ناحية الهواتف العاملة بشبكات LTE بنسبة 4 أضعاف في الصين يقابلها زيادة بنسبة 12 ضعف تشهدها الاسوق الهندية.

وتأتي شركة سامسونج في المركز الأول اعتماداً على حصتها في السوق العالمية حيث حصلت على نسبة 21% من سوق الهواتف الذكية في العالم، وتليها شركة آبل بنسبة 14%.

بينما تتربع شركة هواوي في المركز الثالث بنسبة 9% من السوق العالمية حيث كانت الشركة أحد الفائزين في الأشهر الاثنا عشر الماضية، بينما حصلت شركتا شاومي وZTE على المركز الرابع والخامس بنسبة 5% لكلا الشركتين.

كما أشار التقرير إلى اعتبار علامة شركة أسوس واحدة من أسرع العلامات التجارية نمواً في سوق الهواتف الذكية، وذلك بعد ازدياد شحناتها بنسبة 500% بالمقارنة مع نتائجها في العالم الماضي، ويعتبر هاتف Zenfone 2 من أكثر الهواتف شعبية في عدد من الأسواق العالمية، بينما حصلت شركة Vivo على ازياد كبير في عدد الشحنات مقانةً بالعام الماضي.

وتبدو الأسواق الإقليمية مختلفة قليلاً عن الأسواق العالمية، وعلى الرغم من أن انه لا تزال سامسونغ العلامة التجارية السائدة في معظم الأسواق، ومازالت محتفظة بالأسواق في أوروبا وأمريكا اللاتنية، إلا ان سوق الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية ما يزال من نصيب شركة آبل مع ثلث الحصة السوقية وتليها شركة سامسونج وإل جي

ويشير التقرير إلى ان الأسواق الآسيوية لا تزال الأكثر تنوعاً في العالم مع أربع شركات كبرى تحصل على ما نسبته 10 إلى 15 بالمئة من السوق لكل منها.

Rationale for the Position
The IT Systems Administrator Intern main focus is to provide support to the project’s Information Technology Advisor in carrying out the following tasks:

Assists in the planning, design, documentation, and implementation of various systems to include desktop PC's, servers, network equipment, and software applications.
Monitors and maintains the use of printers.
Performs on-site and remote technical support.
Assists in the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources.
Maintains excellent communication with the all JFRBA staff on all tasks and projects.
Provides emergency on-call support on a rotating schedule.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Must have 0-2 years of relevant professional experience.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Engineering or relevant field required.
Fluency in Arabic required / English will be an added advantage
Organizational skills to support administrative personnel, department supervisors, staff, and managers by maintaining respectful interactions and relationships with Project Staff.
Ability to function successfully in both team and independently, meeting strict deadlines.
Ability to close loop on assignments.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to recognize when to escalate.

APPLE SHIPS IOS 9.0.1 TO FIX BUG THAT PARALYZED SOME IPHONES

Apple today shipped the first update for iOS 9 to fix several bugs, including one that prevented some from installing the new OS.

iOS 9.0.1, issued earlier today, addressed multiple problems, but the one at the top of the chart was a fix for the stuck-on-slide-to-upgrade bug that Apple acknowledged on its support site this week.

After iOS 9's launch last week, some users reported that their iPhones and iPads remained unresponsive on the "Slide to Upgrade" screen. Apple told them to try connecting their devices to a Mac or Windows PC running iTunes. However, that update approach has been largely discarded by users.

For the first time, Facebook has collaborated with its Oculus division to bring a taste of virtual reality to the core product.

Microsoft's former Internet Explorer chief has left the company !

Dean Hachamovitch — the man who oversaw the development of Internet Explorer for ten years — has left Microsoft. Hachamovitch announced the news in a short blog post, in which he said he was "ready to enjoy a different point of view on both tech and life," 24 years after he joined Microsoft. In an interview with GeekWire, Hachamovitch said that the company "really has changed a lot" since he joined in 1990, and that he was "overdue a change."

Hachamovitch was reassigned from his position on the Internet Explorer team late last year, moving within the company to become chief data scientist as Microsoft broadly reorganized its Windows team. He had made more aggressive attempts to improve the browser, trumpeting IE's increased security and its adoption of HTML 5, but saw the public perception of Microsoft's product lagging behind its rivals'. Under Hachamovitch's guidance, the Internet Explorer team was reluctant to adopt advances championed by competitors, such as Chrome's browser extensions. The next Internet Explorer release, IE12.
