Sunrise 2027 is not a one-size-fits-all transition.

For rum and spirits producers, the path forward may look different depending on where each product is sold:

Export Ready
Products going into international retail channels should be reviewed first. These labels may need to carry both the existing UPC/EAN barcode and the new GS1 Digital Link code to support checkout, traceability, and consumer engagement.

Regional Sale Ready
Caribbean and regional market products should not be left behind. The transition is an opportunity to prepare key SKUs for tomorrow’s retail and supply chain requirements.

Local Only Sales
Even products sold only in the local market should be assessed. Label space, artwork, barcode placement, and future packaging plans all need to be considered before the deadline creates pressure.

At Caribbean Label Crafts Ltd., we are ready to help brands plan, prepare, and transition. Whether it is a full label redesign or simply incorporating a GS1 Digital Link code into already crowded label real estate, our team is ready to support the next step in connected packaging.

Sunrise 2027 is approaching. The best time to start the conversation is now.

Sunrise 2027 is coming fast — and for Caribbean rum and spirits producers, now is the time to start planning.

The move from traditional UPC/EAN linear barcodes to 2D GS1 Digital Link codes is more than a checkout change. One code can support retail scanning, consumer engagement, product information, traceability, logistics, transparency, and brand storytelling.

For export products especially, this transition needs to be considered early. Many labels will need to carry both the existing linear barcode and the new 2D code during the transition period, which means artwork, label space, compliance, and print quality all need to be reviewed.

At Caribbean Label Crafts Ltd., we are ready to help brands prepare — whether that means redesigning crowded label real estate, incorporating the new code into existing artwork, or creating fresh, connected packaging for the future.

The future of packaging is connected. Let’s start the conversation now.

Water runs through everything we do.

It nourishes the natural fibers we weave. It shapes the clay we mold. It carries the rhythm of our island into every piece we create by hand.

Today, as we celebrate World Water Day, we honor the source that sustains our craft and our Caribbean home. From the rivers that carve our landscapes to the sea that surrounds us, water is our first collaborator—quiet, powerful, and essential.

Let’s protect it. Let’s cherish it. Let’s keep creating with purpose, respect, and love for the land and waters that inspire us.

How does water inspire your creativity? Tell us below.
