AISK Jamaica

AISK Jamaica The American International School of Kingston is a Global Center for Excellence in Education. Find out more about AISK at www.aisk.com.

Head of School Message: On behalf of our entire community, I welcome you to AISK. As someone who has worked in Education worldwide, I can say this: AISK is a great school with a fabulous future. I see AISK as one of the most determined schools in the Caribbean. We are home to Jamaica’s first 1 to 1 Laptop program, and the only high-performing school in Kingston to open a residence hall (for both international and Jamaican students). We hire only the most accomplished local and international teachers (about 50% for each) to teach a curriculum guided by American and international standards. Our Elementary Program is also on the move, with LCD projectors, computer labs, and other technologies readily available to enliven instruction. Our curriculum is academic, but embraces full-person development supported by differentiated instruction. Also, our full-day Preschool program, Elementary School Government, and K-Kids (A Kiwanis Club Affiliation) offer students more opportunities than ever in the early grades.

An indicator that the school year is in FULL swing? Our kinders get a visit from Mel, the Turtle Man! 🐢

Our kindergarten students observed and interacted with baby sea turtles, and learned why they are threatened and how they can help to protect them through an in-class field trip. Stay tuned for a really cool field trip coming up! 👀

Our kindergarters got a visit from some snakes, and their carrier, Mr. Damani! 🐍

Mr. Damani spoke to our students about how to interact with animals in a safe way, and how to treat them with respect. These are the hands on experiences that create a lifelong love for learning from as early as kindergarten!

Do you remember Levi? 👀

2 years ago, our AISK community rallied together to support our very own Levi, who was diagnosed with bone cancer (osteogenic sarcoma). Not only did he beat it, he is now a superstar at the Bustamante Children's Hospital after his karaoke performance at their Child Cancer Survivors event! 🎤

We continue to be so very proud of our AISK Hurricane!

At AISK, we teach students what they actually WANT to learn. 👀

We don't just teach to pass exams or regurgitate information here at AISK. We foster a deep love of learning and intentional curiosity, because we allow our students to lead the way. We adjust lesson plans based the questions that our students ask, we actively incorporate asking questions into class time, and we give students the opportunity to explore their interests and passions from as early as kindergarten. 🙌

That's the AISK difference. That's . ✨

AISK got a visit from America's Got Talent Season 20 finalist, ! 🎶

Steve is a country and bluegrass musician, who has created his own genre, called "Blackgrass Brothercana." It mixes bluegrass and country-Americana with R&B, hip hop, rock, and soul. He paid a visit to the students in our music program to guide and jam with them! 🪕

We love when our AISK Hurricanes can learn from persons who are skilled in their crafts without having to leave the classroom. Thank you so much for visiting us, Steve!

Meet our new Elementary Principal, Dr. Ken Bence! 📚🍎

We are so grateful that after 19 years in education, Dr. Bence has chosen to continue his career journey with us here at AISK. His dedication to elementary & middle school education has led him to China, Kuwait, Hungary and now Jamaica. 🇯🇲

We look forward to an amazing school year ahead with Dr. Bence on our leadership team!

Every tween deserves special attention as they go through the scary transition from child to teenager... and at AISK, we give it to them.

Middle School at AISK is the same as Form 1-3. 🙌🏾 For most students, it’s a crucial time in development where balancing academics with social emotional learning is essential.

At AISK Middle School, there’s no intense competition from class placement, no looming anxiety about which subjects to choose (will I be a science student, or a humanities student?) and no massive class sizes where you get left behind. We believe in nurturing your child during these transitional years where they’re not only learning higher level academic material, but also how to navigate friendships and self discovery.

If you think AISK is the right fit for your Grade 6-8 student, email us today at [email protected]!

As part of our Jamaican Studies unit, in collaboration with Science, our students are exploring the diverse habitats of Jamaica and the animals that call them home. 🇯🇲

To bring their learning to life, we were excited to welcome Mr. Damany Calder, Environmental Officer from NEPA’s Ecosystems Management Branch, who shared his knowledge and expertise with our students.
