AISK Jamaica

AISK Jamaica The American International School of Kingston is a Global Center for Excellence in Education. Find out more about AISK at www.aisk.com.

Head of School Message: On behalf of our entire community, I welcome you to AISK. As someone who has worked in Education worldwide, I can say this: AISK is a great school with a fabulous future. I see AISK as one of the most determined schools in the Caribbean. We are home to Jamaicaโ€™s first 1 to 1 Laptop program, and the only high-performing school in Kingston to open a residence hall (for both i

nternational and Jamaican students). We hire only the most accomplished local and international teachers (about 50% for each) to teach a curriculum guided by American and international standards. Our Elementary Program is also on the move, with LCD projectors, computer labs, and other technologies readily available to enliven instruction. Our curriculum is academic, but embraces full-person development supported by differentiated instruction. Also, our full-day Preschool program, Elementary School Government, and K-Kids (A Kiwanis Club Affiliation) offer students more opportunities than ever in the early grades.

Dem willie bounce bad, nuh true!? ๐Ÿ˜‚

The whole place liff up when our Head of School took to the stage during AISKโ€™s Evening of Dance. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ Then it tun up and tun ova when other teachers joined him on stage too!

At AISK, our teachers lead by example. How can we encourage students to step out of their comfort zones and get jiggy, if we donโ€™t do it too?

Social Emotional Learning isn't always "relaxing and fun"... most times it requires tough lessons and hard but necessary conversations. ๐Ÿ’ช

One of our most recent SEL advisory sessions with Grade 6 was a workshop on intent, impact and behavior. It gave students an opportunity to become more aware of how their actions and words can have an effect on others, regardless of intent. The point of lessons like this is to get students thinking more deeply about their social communication, and ultimately how the choices they make in day to day communication can affect their ability to maintain relationships.

From Hurricane to changemaker. ๐ŸŒช๏ธ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›

Kimberly Richards (AISK Class of 2010) walked our halls as student council president, house captain, and club leader long before she became Director of Operations & Engagement at Birmingham City Council.

She'll tell you herself โ€” the leadership skills she built at AISK didn't stay in the classroom. They're the same skills driving her career today: uniting people, leading teams, and getting results.

This is what we mean when we say AISK is more than academics. It's where confidence, collaboration, and leadership get built early โ€” and last a lifetime.

At AISK, Social Emotional Learning is built right into the curriculum. โœจ

These sessions can look like heavy conversations that help our students navigate tough feelings and situations, or they can feel light and fun, as we teach students the necessary balance between work and play.

One of our most recent SEL advisory sessions with Grade 11 was a Paint & Sip. Hosted right before exams, it gave them an opportunity to release any tensions & anxiety from their exam preparations, but also allowed them to stretch their creative muscles in a safe space that fostered community. In a session like this, we hope to teach our students the importance of rest, self expression, community & belonging.
