Then why not drop in any Saturday to Next Level Gaming at First Tower between 12pm and 6pm, where the focus is very much on new and improving players between the ages of 13 and 18.

Don't have any cards? Don't worry we will give you some to start you off.

Who knows, maybe you are the next Nick Merrien, 2nd row for the Guernsey Raiders Rugby Team and the only Channel Islander to play on the pro-tour so far.

The new multi-player Magic game is available late this month, Vampires, Merfolk, Pirates and Dinosaurs. Maybe you have a better tribal deck? Look for casual Tribal events soon.

So we are planning ahead, Rivals of Ixalan.

Don't feel up to playing proper Magic against other players? Don't want to lose to better players? Not interested in improving your game? Don't want to ever go to a Grand Prix? Don't worry.

Casual events can/will be organised by anyone who wishes to volunteer - all you have to do is take a list of names and pass this on to us so we can report the tournament or play a game with a friend in the shop any day we are open (outside scheduled tournament times).

But really there is nothing to be scared about, we may have been playing competitive magic for 16 years or more, but we are always ready to help you and the only way to improve your game is to practise. You will never know what you are missing out on, if you don't even play the game. You don't have to play on a Sunday (when most of the best players will be playing seriously), if you don't want to.

The season will follow the exact same format as the current one (subject to any future changes Wizards makes). As usual we will stick religiously to the schedule Wizards set out for us.

A pre-release, a league, weekly drafts for Friday Night Magic along with a casual constructed Friday Night Magic. The competitive standard tournament will continue be held on Sundays for double planeswalker points and double prizes.

Look for us to start "team" tournaments and with GP London on the 26th to 28th January we may have a sealed deck the Sunday before as practise.

12 drafts and one league require 42 boosters, so if you wish to buy a box of boosters to cover your in store play then I suggest you order in advance for delivery on "buy a box" day and get the free promo.

If you want to buy your tournament boosters in advance then they must be kept in the shop. We get the boosters a little cheaper if we order in advance and we are happy to pass this saving on to you.

If you want to buy a box to open on "Buy a Box" day, then again you will be able to get them at the lower advance price and these can be taken out of the shop.

Having passed the test and become an official Pokemon Professor we are now holding official Pokemon Tournaments every Tuesday evening from 4pm.

Trading Card Game updates - now we are opened applications for organised play network status for Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Final Fantasy have been submitted.

Magic the Gathering (Usual Tournament Day FRIDAY) - Wizards have requested that we erect a sign on the fascia above the shop and then they will consider our application. Next set release - 14th July 2017 "Hour of Devastation" so we will not qualify for pre-releases this time as there is a minimum 5 week period before we qualify, but we should by October for the next set. But we need as many players as possible once our application has been approved to make this a reality even if you can only make it to one tournament.

Final Fantasy TCG (Usual Tournament Day WEDNESDAY) - Our application is being considered by Square Enix. Next set release "OPUS III" - 21st July 2017

Pokemon (Usual Tournament Day TUESDAY) - One of us has passed the Tournament Organiser Pokemon Professor Online examination and our application is currently being considered. Next Set Release August 4th "Burning Shadows"

Yu-Gi-Oh (Usual Tournament Day THURSDAY) - Konami are currently considering our application. Next set release 9th August 2017 "Legendary Duelists"
