FOSCARINI

Our project for the new Foscarini corporate identity has been selected to be featured in the 28th International Biennal of Graphic Design Brno Bienále Brno | Brno Biennial that will take place from May to August 2018 in Czech Republic.

The Biennial was called into life in 1963 and is thus one of the oldest events of its kind worldwide: a meeting point where to discuss and uncover new perspectives, new projects, new ideas in the graphic design field.

The jury singled out the most meaningful projects from 26 countries through an extensive research among graphic studios from all over the world. 280 works will be on display, chosen among over 2,000 preselected projects. The Designwork restyling of Foscarini identity in 2015 will be one of them.

A meeting point where to discuss and uncover new perspectives, new projects, new ideas in the graphic design field.

Exhibition in Trieste, 26 March 2016 - 9 October 2016

Ambitions, dreams and achievement of an enterprise: a tapestry of memories, weaved together to recount the story of Trieste and its ships round the world.

Designwork took care of the logo, the visual identity and the communication (fliers, invitations, website: lloydtrieste.it).
The logo evokes the two Ls in "Lloyd", typographically treated in two different ways to give the idea of the temporal extent (gothic L + sans serif L).
The image uses 4 different colors: beige, yellow, red and blue, all taken from the nautical world.

On the pages of Interni Magazine our art director talks about "the Designwork method".

In December 2017 the design magazine Interni decided to put the "protagonists of the backstage" under the spotlight.
Creative artists, entepreneurs, photographers, art directors: everyone who has a key role in creating the image and helping spread the name of the 'made in Italy' design furniture all over the world. Focusing on the most popular advertising campaign, the finest catalogues, the most successful projects of brand image, the breaking-through editorial initiatives.

LA GUERRA CHE VERRÀ NON È LA PRIMA

Exhibition at Mart - Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto, 4 October 2014 - 20 September 2015

Avant-garde and propaganda, art and everyday life crossed their roads in the exhibition at MART in Rovereto, with documents, installations, drawings, posters, paintings, journals, objects and more recent artistic experimentations in display together.

Designwork curated the graphic project: for the catalogue's cover and the titles of the various sections we chose a font that refers to the WWI period. The squares that contain the titles are a cross reference to the military patches. The bright colors tone down the harshness of war: green alludes to the grass of the countryside and the trenches, and pink is an ideal association to the human element.

FARE LUCE

Light: many projects and many ways to deal with this unique and fascinating element. FARE LUCE is a book that collects different perspectives with a unique voice: the incessant spirit of research. Architecture, design, fine arts, graphic design, photography: everything revolves around light, which becomes instrument, experiment, reflection or emotion in a collection of nearly 300 works of art.

Curated by Beppe Finessi and created at the initiative of Foscarini in 2017, FARE LUCE is an heterogeneous body of work. We treated the contents in a way that resembles the work done for "Inventario", respecting and giving value to the multiformity of materials included in the book.

Exhibition at Mart - Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto, 9 February - 2 June 2013

Nowadays food has become a trend topic also for the world of design. Out of the kitchen, away from the plates, right inside the rooms of a museum: food can be a form of art. In 2013, MART dedicated an entire exhibition to the shape of taste, "La Forma del Gusto".

Designwork curated the exhibition image and the catalogue: since it was a collective exhibition, the cover showed a collage with some of the works on display, lying on a golden place mat. The same image has been used for posters and other means of communication.

INVENTARIO

Inventario is not a magazine. Inventario is not a book. It is an editorial initiative born in 2010, directed by Beppe Finessi, promoted by Foscarini, published by Corraini Edizioni. Designwork has been working on the art direction for the project from the first issue, receiving the ADI - Premio Compasso d'Oro in 2014, and we are currently designing the thirteen edition.

Starting from the cover (which itself represents an "inventario", an archive on its own), the project investigates on all the creativity-driven disciplines in dialogue with each other.
"A critical and free-thinking eye cast over the design scene, architecture and art".

For Magis, we opted for a bold, rational image.
Avoiding decorations and going straight to the essential.
With a distinctive typographic style.

Designwork curated the art direction for all the photoshootings: the pictures express a balance between form and content, showing furniture that is beautiful even as a pure shape.

The catalogue as an art form. In 2012, we worked on the curation and selection of the photographic materials - both historical and contemporary -, to tell the story of the brand. Different types of paper, fold-outs and a book jackets inspired by the work of Herbert Matter, longtime graphic designer for Knoll. This is what happened behind the scenes of the first general catalogue we made.

A story told in paper, in forms, shapes. A story told with craft, inventiveness, attention. The story of Knoll.
