A pressing need. Two years of research. And the first real-world project of its kind in Italy.
On 10 June, the University of Siena unveiled ABACUS.

ABACUS is not a chatbot.
It is a conversational avatar designed to guide and support students at the University of Siena with services, well-being, equal opportunities and appointment booking with the psychology team. Students can access it by text or voice, directly from the University’s website.
The project started out within a degree programme and grew through the collaboration between the University and QuestIT, by Vection Technologies. It was built with rigour from the ground up: two years of research, design, development, content validation and full compliance with European privacy regulations.

The result? The University of Siena is the first in Italy to roll out a solution of this kind.
The project also made its way to CRUI, the Conference of Italian University Rectors, where it was presented as a model of innovation that can be replicated elsewhere.

This project reminds us why we do what we do.
AI should not just streamline business processes. It can also look after people and become the first port of call for a student who is struggling.

Yesterday, we talked about the future but above all, about skills.

During “Look4ward – Build Your Future”, the event promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo and LIUC, our Ernesto Di Iorio, CEO of QuestIT by Vection Technologies, shared a vision of Artificial Intelligence that can make a real difference for people, businesses and society.

Together with managers, entrepreneurs, academics and professionals, we explored AI, sustainability, the blue and space economies, life sciences and the shifts reshaping the job market. We exchanged ideas with over 300 students on the trends that are rewriting the rules of tomorrow’s professions.

A bridge between university and the world of work.

Iolanda Iacono, CCO at QuestIT by Vection Technologies, took the stage as a speaker at the Career Day for the Master’s degree programme in Communication Strategies and Techniques, organised by the Department of Social, Political and Cognitive Sciences. She joined the panel dedicated to Experience Design.

It was a valuable opportunity to give students a real-world look into the corporate landscape, shed light on emerging professional roles and highlight the skills that are increasingly in demand across the market.

During her talk, Iolanda focused on the role of AI and the evolution of the Conversation Designer: a profession that brings together technology, language, strategy and user experience to shape the interactions of the future.
