Back to hands-on experimentation.

Watercolor, acrylics, brushes, textures and imperfect marks.

Alongside my exploration of AI within the creative process, I’m continuing to experiment with hand drawing and traditional painting techniques.

For me, these are not two opposite worlds.
They are different tools that can meet, overlap and influence each other.

A hand-painted element can become the starting point for a placed graphic, an all-over print or a new digital exploration.

Preserving the human gesture, unexpected marks and imperfections is part of the process.

INK BLOOM — from mark to pattern.

This project started with a black marker, a blank sheet of paper and an idea.

I wanted to create my own interpretation of animalier through spontaneous, imperfect marks, then transform them in Photoshop into a seamless allover pattern. Black meets the acid lime from the IB Design Lab colour palette, adding a bolder and more contemporary feel.

The styling comes from another side of my visual world.

I’ve always been fascinated by Korean K-pop bands and their strong fashion imagery, as well as manga and anime, where Gothic and Lolita-inspired characters often appear. Different references that somehow found their way into this project naturally.

A mix of things I love: hand drawing, textile design, fashion and different visual cultures. 🖤

FROM PAPER TO PATTERN.

This project started away from the screen — with ink, water, metallic pigments and instinct.

I wanted to explore the beauty of uncontrolled marks: blurred edges, irregular spots, unexpected textures and gestures that emerge naturally when materials are allowed to interact.

The original artwork was then digitally processed and transformed into a repeatable textile pattern, while preserving the raw and imperfect character of the hand-painted source.

From experimentation to application, WILD INK is part of my ongoing research into the dialogue between analogue techniques and digital surface design.

FROM SKETCH TO TEXTILE.

Every artwork starts with a simple idea.

This allover pattern began as a freehand sketch, where I explored organic shapes, movement and rhythm without thinking about the final product.

Once the concept felt right, I rebuilt every element digitally, refined the proportions and transformed the illustration into a seamless repeat, ready for textile applications.

For me, pattern design is much more than creating a beautiful print. It’s about balancing creativity, functionality and repeat engineering to develop artwork that can live across fashion, swimwear and lifestyle products.

Not every design is created for a client.

Many become part of the IB Design Lab Graphic Archive—a growing collection of original prints, textures and visual explorations, ready to inspire future collaborations.

For a long time, I thought my portfolio should explain what I do.

Lately, I’ve realised that what really matters is how I think.

The ideas I bring to a project don’t appear when I open Illustrator.

They start much earlier.

While I’m saving an image.
Watching a campaign.
Walking through a city.
Looking at architecture, nature, photography, packaging or fashion.

I’m constantly collecting visual references—not because I’m looking for inspiration, but because that’s simply how my mind works.

When a new project begins, I don’t start from a blank page.

I start by connecting all those fragments and translating them into a visual direction.

This is the beginning of a personal research project.

Not about design itself, but about understanding what makes my creative process unique and how I can communicate it more clearly.

This is the first page.

SPICY MARGHERITA

Street Food Collection – Summer 2026

Potevo lasciare un’illustrazione nata dalla collaborazione con Gabriele Parma senza darle una nuova vita? Assolutamente no.

Così nasce Spicy Margherita, il primo telo della nuova Street Food Collection firmata IB Design Lab.

Un accessorio pensato per chi ama il design, i colori decisi e gli oggetti che raccontano una storia.

Realizzato in microfibra, è compatto, leggero e ad asciugatura rapida. Si ripiega facilmente, occupa pochissimo spazio nello zaino o nella borsa ed è pronto ad accompagnarti ovunque: al mare, in piscina, in palestra, durante una lezione di yoga, in viaggio, in campeggio o semplicemente per un pomeriggio all’aria aperta.

Con le sue dimensioni di 150 × 90 cm offre tutto lo spazio che serve, mentre il taglio laser senza cuciture gli dona una finitura pulita e un look essenziale.

Le idee migliori ? Nascono soprattutto dalla collaborazione tra più persone.

Avete mai sentito parlare di Team ?

Ho sempre pensato che la forza di un progetto non si trovi nel lavorare sempre da soli, ma nella capacità di saper costruire una squadra in grado di mettere insieme competenze, sensibilità e punti di vista diversi.
Questa illustrazione ne è un esempio.
Da un pranzo al bar è nato un confronto con Gabriele Parma , fumettista e disegnatore professionista, che conosco da quando avevo 25 anni. Oggi ne ho 43, e dopo tutti questi anni continuiamo a divertirci creando insieme.
Dal confronto è nata l’illustrazione che vedete nel carosello.
In primis, Gabriele ha trasformato il concept in uno schizzo a mano libera in bianco e nero; io invece mi sono concentrata sulla direzione creativa, sulla colour palette e sull’identità visiva dell’illustrazione, fino ad arrivare alla realizzazione del video animato utilizzando Adobe Firefly.
Per sviluppare il prompt di animazione mi sono fatta aiutare (lo ammetto) da ChatGPT.
Questo è il modo in cui immagino il design oggi:
persone + esperienza + creatività + tecnologia.
Lo dico sempre e lo ripeterò ad oltranza: l’intelligenza artificiale non sostituisce il talento.
Amplifica quello delle persone che sanno collaborare.
Perché il vero valore non è fare tutto da soli.
È sapere con chi costruire qualcosa di migliore.
