🌊 NERITES completes its first pilot campaign in Baia, Italy!
From 31 August to 5 September 2026, the NERITES consortium carried out its first pilot campaign at the submerged Villa dei Pisoni, within the Underwater Archaeological Park of Baia.
The six-day campaign marked an important step from system integration to field demonstration, bringing the integrated NERITES solution into a real underwater archaeological environment.
The activities included the initial documentation and preparation of the archaeological site, the establishment of reference datasets, the deployment and commissioning of the integrated system, field-verification activities and the ex*****on of two use cases.
The first use case focused on the physical and biological degradation of mosaics and wall structures, while the second addressed anthropogenic impacts at the Villa dei Pisoni. Designated end users were also able to follow the operations remotely and provide their observations and assessments.
The collected data and operational records will now be processed and evaluated, supporting the further refinement of the NERITES solution ahead of the second pilot campaign in Fournoi, Greece.
