Santa Claus case study:
According to new logistic scheme, the final gifts packing line at Santa Claus factory was composed of two conveyors for toys deposit.
Till last year toys were placed manually by elves on conveyors, and directed through packing machines. Due to growing demand for elves hand-made toys Santa Claus had to move his workforce to manual assembly line and reduce to minimum elves factor for handling.
Euclid Labs s.r.l. was selected to deliver bin picking solution to pick and distribute in two conveyors all most popular toys using a six axis robot and several special grippers.
System delivered to Santa factory includes Moonflower Blue (MFB) license, a software for robot random bin picking, and 3D vision scanner by Zivid that allows using information about object's colour.
For cost and cycle time optimization, scanner is mounted on external bracket and is moved over bins containing different toys. Most common combination of workpieces is Teddy Bear and Unicorn.
Volume of bins is 800*1000*800 and cycle time is 8 seconds.
A new workcell is going to be delivered soon with a new software version that can drive multiple robots, a video of first tests can be seen here: https://youtu.be/IXsU2GANPYs
