A cavallo tra 2024 e 2025 Plam ha avuto l’opportunità di partecipare al Censimento delle Architetture Rurali italiane del Ministero della Cultura. Abbiamo percorso l’Est dell’Emilia-Romagna, tra le province di Ferrara e Ravenna documentando più di 500 architetture. Attraversato un territorio liquido, piatto, dove la terra è un patto instabile tra acqua e macchine: poderi distesi come tavole, case coloniche che emergono dalle nebbie, cascine isolate lungo gli argini, granai che sembrano galleggiare tra canali. Questa mappatura ci ha fatto conoscere un patrimonio silenzioso e vulnerabile testimonianza di come le comunità della pianura emiliano-romagnola abbiano costruito, il proprio modo di fare agricoltura prendendo in prestito la terra dal mare.
Il Censimento delle architetture rurali italiane è un’iniziativa finanziata dal PNRR e dall’Unione europea – NextGenerationEU, promossa dal Ministero della Cultura (MiC) e coordinata dall’Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo e la Documentazione (ICCD).
Between 2024 and 2025, Plam took part in the Ministry of Culture's Census of Italian Rural Architecture. We travelled through the eastern part of Emilia-Romagna, between the provinces of Ferrara and Ravenna, and documented more than 500 buildings. The landscape was fluid and flat, with an unstable balance between water and machinery. We saw farmsteads stretching out like tabletops, farmhouses emerging from the mist and isolated farmhouses along the embankments. Granaries seemed to float amongst the canals. This mapping project introduced us to silent, vulnerable heritage bearing witness to how communities in the Emilia-Romagna plain have shaped their agricultural practices by borrowing land from the sea.
The Census of Italian Rural Architecture is a PNRR-funded initiative promoted by the Ministry of Culture (MiC) and coordinated by the Central Institute for Cataloguing and Documentation (ICCD), with support from the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

Il progetto di ricerca “PATH – Perception and access To Heritage” ha l’obiettivo di promuovere una cultura progettuale basata sui principi dell’Universal Design, sviluppando soluzioni innovative per consentire la fruizione dei Beni Culturali ai bambini con disabilità percettive e cognitive.

INTERVENTO 4: Percorso nel Parco Massari
Il percorso si configura come un’esperienza educativa e sensoriale per bambini, dedicata alla scoperta del Parco Massari. Si sviluppa come un’esplorazione guidata che introduce alla figura del giardiniere e al suo lavoro, stimolando l’osservazione diretta, la curiosità e l’apprendimento attraverso il fare.

L’esperienza progettata alterna momenti di scoperta, manualità e creatività, invitando i partecipanti a osservare con attenzione gli elementi naturali e a riconoscere forme, trame e geometrie presenti nella natura.

The 'PATH – Perception and Access to Heritage' research project aims to promote a design culture based on the principles of universal design by developing innovative solutions that enable children with perceptual and cognitive disabilities to engage with cultural heritage.

PROJECT 4: ACTIVITIES IN MASSARI PARK
Taking the form of a guided exploration, it introduces children to the role of the gardener and their work, encouraging direct observation, curiosity, and learning through experience.

The programme alternates between moments of discovery and hands-on creative activities, encouraging participants to observe natural elements closely and recognise the shapes, textures and geometric patterns they contain.

INTERVENTO 3: Percorso nel centro storico di Ferrara
Il percorso nel centro storico di Ferrara si sviluppa dalla Cattedrale fino al parco giochi del Parco Massari. Pensato specificamente per i bambini, attraversa il cuore della città valorizzando i principali monumenti lungo il tragitto e mettendo a disposizione una guida con descrizioni chiare e accessibili a tutti.

Per il percorso è stato progettato un sistema di segnaletica dal design unitario, composto da pannelli con pittogrammi identificativi delle singole tappe e da indicatori posizionati a intervalli regolari. Questi elementi segnalano le svolte e garantiscono una continuità visiva che facilita l’orientamento, rendendo il percorso immediatamente riconoscibile in città.

Il sistema di segnaletica è stato progettato per potersi agganciare ai pannelli informativi esistenti, integrando così in modo accessibile le informazioni già diffuse in città.

PROJECT 3: A WALK THROUGH THE HISTORIC CENTRE OF FERRARA
The route through Ferrara’s historic centre runs from the cathedral to the playground in Parco Massari. Designed specifically for children, the route winds through the heart of the city and highlights the main monuments along the way. A guide provides clear descriptions that are accessible to everyone.

A signage system with a consistent design has been devised for the route, comprising panels featuring pictograms identifying the individual stages and signposts positioned at regular intervals. These elements indicate turns and ensure visual continuity, which aids navigation, making the route immediately recognisable within the city.

The signage system has been designed to integrate seamlessly with the information already displayed around the city by being attached to existing information panels.

Il progetto di ricerca “PATH – Perception and access To Heritage” ha l’obiettivo di promuovere una cultura progettuale basata sui principi dell’Universal Design, sviluppando soluzioni innovative per consentire la fruizione dei Beni Culturali ai bambini con disabilità percettive e cognitive.

Per il percorso di fruizione museale è stato progettato un prototipo trasportabile: il “Kit del pittore”. Il Kit raccoglie attività ludico-didattiche pensate per rendere l’esperienza di visita accessibile, coinvolgente e stimolante per famiglie e bambini.
Il prototipo della borsa è stato realizzato con scarti colorati di telo da camion in pvc; per le maniglie e la tracolla, invece, sono state utilizzate delle cinture di sicurezza. Le cartelline, cucite a mano, sono rivestite internamente di feltro. Il Kit include inoltre un cuscino che consente un uso libero e informale dello spazio, garantendo tempi adeguati e confortevoli per lo svolgimento delle attività.

The 'PATH – Perception and Access to Heritage' research project aims to promote a design culture based on the principles of universal design by developing innovative solutions that enable children with perceptual and cognitive disabilities to engage with cultural heritage.
A portable kit has been designed to enhance the museum experience: the ‘Painter’s Kit’. The kit contains fun and educational activities designed to make the visit an accessible, engaging and stimulating experience for families and children.
The prototype bag was made from coloured scraps of PVC lorry tarpaulin. Seatbelts were used for the handles and shoulder strap. The hand-sewn folders are felt-lined on the inside. The kit also includes a cushion to allow flexible and informal use of the space, providing sufficient comfort and support when carrying out activities.
