The consortium COMETA (achronimum of " Multi-companies consortium for the promotion and the adoption of advanced computation techniques)

the "Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (www.inaf.it), the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (www.infn.it), Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcalonogia (www.ingv.it), the Un
iversity of Catania(www.unict.it) and Messina (www.unime.it) and the consortium S.C.I.R.E (www.consorzioscire.it). The main aim of the consortium COMETA is the realisation and the management, within the Sicily land, of an advanced Research and Technical Development center skilled in the field of high performant computation. Nowadays the consortium has available a powerful calculation infrastructure, provided of high technical and scientific expertises. The COMETA has been worked for years an intense research and development activity in the field of the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) with particular reference to the high performant computation such as HCP, Grid as well as Cloud and GPU Computing. In addiction to the research and development activities, the consortium is also active, since the first year, in the organisation of intense formative activities of new professional role and in the world-wide spread of parallel computation.
