Do you remember our Untitled job post? We received more than 50 applications. We won't hide that we were disappointed by the level of unrealistic expectations that we get from job seekers on how a proper job/talent matching process should go.
We are seeing this pattern in FikraSpace and been told by other employers about the same pattern. People complain about the simple and basic skills that every job-ready young person should have.
A new grad just finished 16 years of official education. How come they can complain about a job that requires someone to use punctuation, a foreign language, or the ability to adapt to new tools since most of our expected applicants are digital natives?
We used to blame big corporates for relying on foreigners when hiring. We are facing a huge problem if the current generation won't change their mindset.
Below are the tasks that we are asking the applicants to finish before being selected for a phone interview. You can finish it even if we haven't received an application from you:
1. Translate the original job post into English.
2. Come up with a post design using Canva.com, Madewithover.com, or any tool you are comfortable with for the above post. Please take into consideration FikraSpace's branding elements.
3. What do you know about FikraSpace and FikraCamps?
4. What are our motives and why we are doing this?
Our next Bootcamp starts in less than a month, please plan your tasks and duties.
5. We do commercials sometimes, check those links: Act Like A Dev and Al-Da7ee7. Please come up with and Ad idea, a script, and nominate one or two local agencies or freelancers to execute. And how much budget you will be allocating.
6. Demonstrate your presentation skills using PowerPoint, Keynote, or any other app. Take into account our branding elements.
7. How will you encourage people to register? Please note that the upcoming boot camps are free of charge. But our policy is always to choose top applicants.
8. Where do you find yourself in 14months from now?
9. What is your plan to grow FikraSpace's income and move digitally?
10. Describe one training day at FikraCamp.
If you feel that those requirements "steal your ideas" please don't apply, we are sorry that you feel that way and would love to hire someone else with a different mindset.
