1. Large photographs
When we talk about design and screens, the visual is what commands! A large image, full screen, is the best element we can use to communicate in detail what the web offers us. This year we are going to replace words with images as several sites are already doing.
2. Multimedia experience
And if the images captivate us, what about the videos? This resource is being used more and more: short videos that provide a brief synopsis of the web, some reproduced in a loop from the home. Thanks to HTML5 it is possible to elevate a website to a multimedia design never before thought, with animations and a fantastic user experience.
3. Supremacy of the scroll
We have a clear tendency to use scrolling in the navigation of a website, especially in the home pages. Probably, one of its main reasons is the increase in navigability from mobile devices. When we enter a site from a tablet or a cell phone, clicking on a button and expecting us to link to another page can be very tedious. Users expect to be able to scroll on a single page and find all the information they need, especially users from the mobile world.
4. Storytelling and interaction
Who does not like to listen, read or see a good story? Another tendency of websites has to do with the ability of these to tell us the history of the brand, product, service to which the site belongs. And if there is a possibility that the user can be part of the story through the interaction, much better!
5. Mobile menus from the desktop
We are used to the standard model of the menu on websites because it is one of the elements that has had the least changes and users are already used to them. However, the increase in the use of mobile devices gives us a new trend in the design of desktop sites: the use of the hidden menu we use for mobile design, thus simplifying the visualization.
6. Large typefaces
Typography is one of the key pieces of a good design. While we want more images than words, the few words we say should be easy to read, attractive, with a quick visualization on the first page.
7. Flat Design
The flat design remains valid! Wears the crown in the design for a couple of years and will maintain its position, fortunately, since this type of design and minimalist promotes a very effective communication. This trend will be found especially in icons, menus, and illustrations.
8. Responsive Web Design
With the trend of Responsive Web Design in its heyday it is expected that the sites made only for mobile phones will disappear and, finally, almost all sites will adapt to Responsive philosophy.
9. Ghost buttons
It is increasingly common to find on a home page with ghost buttons or transparent buttons. These buttons work very well, especially on pages that use photographs or background videos.
10. Speed โโand performance
A marked trend, which has probably given rise to the others, is the search for greater speed and performance of websites. Why? Simple, a better user experience allows generating more conversion. Therefore, designers and developers will continue to investigate new ways to create attractive websites always taking care of the elements they use, paying attention to their weight and speed.
