LAS VEGAS—New chips that blur the line between computer memory and storage are starting to move beyond niche applications and could change how we use PCs, an industry analyst said Sunday.

The chips would enable the same instant-on capability that’s common on tablets, but at much higher performance, said Tom Coughlin, founder of Coughlin Associates.

”We’re seeing the development of new solid-state storage technologies that are starting to play a role,” he said. “MRAM is one that we’re seeing playing a role providing a non-volatile memory technology, and there’s some talk about resistive RAM doing some things.”

Conventional memory chips—called DRAM—store ones and zeros using a electrical charge in each memory cell, but Magnetoresistive RAM (MRAM) uses a magnetic charge. Resistive RAM (RRAM) is based on a sandwich made from two materials, with the center layer having a different resistance to the material that makes up the outer layers.

”Some of these new technologies that have been in the lab and have been finding niche applications have been getting a little bit more widespread,” said Coughlin. He was speaking at the Storage Visions conference happening on the sidelines of the International CES in Las Vegas.

With this trick, you can disable access to your USB(Universal Serial Bus) ports in your Windows based PC to prevent people from taking out data from your personal computer without permission or spreading viruses through the use of USB(pen and flash) drives.

To use this trick to disable USB ports, follow the steps given below:-

Click on Start.
Click on Run. If you cannot find RUN, type it in the search box.
Type "regedit" without quotes. This will launch the Registry Editor.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbstor.
In the work area, double click on Start.
In the Value Data box, enter 4.
Click on OK.
Close Registry Editor and refresh your desktop.
To re-enable access to your USB ports, enter 3 in the Value Data box in Step 6.

Try it yourself to make your PC invulnerable from data theft and malware which spread through USB ports. This works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Note: This trick also disables access to your USB connected peripheral devices. So, do not use it if you have USB connected keyboard and mouse....

Use Keyboard as Mouse [How To]

If your mouse is not working and you don't wish to wait till you get a new mouse, you would definitely like to know how you can use your keyboard as your mouse. It is easy to use your mouse as keyboard in Windows using the On Screen Keyboard utility, but it is also possible to do the reverse.

All you need to do is:

Windows XP Users:-
Go to Control Panel.
Then click on Switch to Classic View.
Then Click on Accessibility Options.
Then Click on the Mouse Tab.
Select Use MouseKeys.
Click on OK.
Then activate NumberLock (by pressing the NumLk key).
You should hear a beep sound.
Now you can control the mouse pointer using the arrow keys on the numeric keypad.

Windows 8, Windows 7 and Vista Users:

Open Ease of Access Center by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Ease of Access, and then clicking Ease of Access Center.
Click Make the mouse easier to use.
Under Control the mouse with the keyboard, select the Turn on Mouse Keys check box.

You can also increase the acceleration and speed of your mouse movements according to your needs.

You can alternately press the Alt+Shift+Num Lock combination to instantly activate the mouse keys.

For laptops, this will only work if your laptop keyboard has a numeric keypad or alternative keys which you can enable by pressing the Number Lock Key or the Function key.

How to Copy Text From Any Image
Do you need certain information in the form of text from scanned copies of documents.Either you can write the whole text by typing or you can use an OCR software.OCR (optical Character recognition) is method to extract text from images. It can recognise handwritten, printed or typewritten text and can reproduce them into editable word ortxt format. These OCR software also preserve the formmating of the orignal scanned document into converted document. They are not 100% accurate and the converted document still requires some editing. But it is better to use an OCR software and do some editing rather to type the whole Doument.
