Jio has announced a cashback offer that provides benefits worth up to Rs. 2,599 for new and existing Prime users, about a month after a similar offer for Diwali came into effect. Customers buying Jio recharges of Rs. 399 or more will get cashback vouchers from the operator, wallet cashback, and discounts from fashion and travel e-commerce websites. The total benefits of the Jio cashback offer go up to Rs. 2,599 in value; the offer has come into effect from Friday, November and will continue till November 25. Interestingly, new Jio Prime users will get greater benefits compared to existing subscribers.

Under the upcoming Jio cashback offer, subscribers who purchase recharges of Rs. 399 and above from MyJio or Jio.com site will get Rs. 400 cashback in the form of eight vouchers of Rs. 50. These vouchers can be used to deduct Rs. 50 while purchasing future recharge packs. Moreover, if you make the recharge using digital wallets, you will get cashback in there as well. So for example, if you join the Jio network as a new user and use Amazon Pay to buy a Rs. 459 recharge, you will receive the vouchers worth Rs. 400 from Jio and Rs. 99 cashback as Pay balance, totalling Rs. 499. The wallet cashback can be redeemed immediately, while the Jio vouchers can be used after November 15.

Gionee, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, is all set to launch its slimmest smartphone in two countries this month. Dubbed the Gionee Elife S5.5, the 5.5mm-thick smartphone was first unveiled last month ahead of the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona.
The smartphone will be launched first in China, with an 18 March 2014 release. This will be followed by its launch in India, on 31 March 2014. During its official MWC announcement, Gionee said that the device will head over to 40 more countries soon after its initial launch, and that consumers will also get a 4G LTE variant of the smartphone in June 2014.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 3G variant will be priced at CNY 2,299 (approximately $374 or Rs. 23,000) in China. Actual pricing and availability of the smartphone in India will be unveiled on the phone's launch on 31 March 2014.

The Elife S5.5 is a single-SIM smartphone and runs the company's Amigo UI on top of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It features a 5-inch display with no word on its resolution and display quality. The Elife S5.5 is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core CPU coupled with 2GB of RAM. The camera options on the handset include a 13-megapixel rear shooter with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera for video calls.

The inbuilt storage on the Elife S5.5 is 16GB and there is no memory expansion option available. The smartphone packs a similar 2300mAh battery to that seen on the company's flagship, Elife E7.

The Elife S5.5 measures in 145.1x70.2x5.55mm and weighs 130 grams. At just 5.5mm thickness, the smartphone may just be the slimmest smartphone in the world.

Connectivity options on the smartphone include 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG. The Gionee Elife S5.5 comes in Black, White, Pink, Blue and Purple colours.

இயற்கை வேளாண் விஞ்ஞானி நம்மாழ்வார் இயற்கையோடு இயற்கையாக இணைந்து விட்டார். அவரைப் போன்றே இயற்கையை நேசித்து வருபவர்களை அடையாளம் கண்டு, அவர்களை சிறப்பித்து வருகிறது தமிழ்க் காடு எனும் அமைப்பு.

இயற்கை வேளாண் விஞ்ஞானி நம்மாழ்வார் கடந்த டிசம்பர் 30-ம் தேதி பட்டுக்கோட்டையில் உயிர் நீத்தார். அவரது நினை வேந்தல் நிகழ்ச்சி கடலூர் மாவட்டம் தொழுதூரை அடுத்த ராமநத்தத்தில் இம்மாதம் 18-ம் தேதி நடைபெற்றது.

தமிழ்க் காடு தொடக்கம்

தமிழ்க் காடு நிகழ்ச்சியை ஏற்பாடு செய்த அதன் ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் ரமேஷ், கடலூர் மாவட்டத்தில் நம்மாழ் வாரைப் போன்று இயற்கையை நேசித்து, அதன்படி வாழ்ந்து வருபவர்களை அடையாளம் கண்டு, அவர்களை ’நம்ம ஊரு நம்மாழ்வார்’ என அழைத்து நினைவேந்தல் நிகழ்ச்சியின் மூலம் சிறப்பித்தினார்.

இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில் சுமார் 125 இயற்கை வேளாண் விவசாயிகள் பங்கேற்றனர். சூழலியல் எழுத்தாளர் நக்கீரன், தோழர் பொழிலன் ஆகியோர் சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களாகக் கலந்துகொண்டு இயற்கை விவசாயி களுக்குப் பருத்தித் துணி அணிவித்து சிறப்பித்தனர்.

‘உழவன் தாத்தா’

இதுகுறித்து அமைப்பின் ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் ரமேஷ் கூறியதாவது, ‘’நம்முடைய ‘உழவன் தாத்தா’ நம்மாழ்வார் விட்டுச் சென்றப் பணிகளை நாம் தொடரவேண்டும் என்ற நோக்கத்தில் இந்நிகழ்ச்சி நடத்தப்படுகிறது. இயற்கை வாழ்வியல் அறிஞர் மண்ணுக்கு விதையாக மாறிவிட்டார். இவ்வேளையில் நம்மாழ்வார் போன்று ஒவ்வொரு பகுதியிலும் இயற்கை உழவு, மரம் நடுதல், சித்த மருத்துவம், யோகக்கலை எனப் பல்வேறு இயற்கை சார்ந்த சமூகப் பணிகளை செய்பவர்களுக்கு நம்மாழ்வார் நினைவாக 'நம்ம ஊரு நம்மாழ்வார்' எனப் பருத்தி துண்டு, துணிப்பை, நம்மாழ்வார் பற்றிய நூல் போன்றவற்றை வழங்கிச் சிறப்பிக்கப்படும். இது போன்று ஒவ்வொரு பகுதியிலும் கண்டறிந்து செயல்பட்டால் நம்மாழ்வார் விட்டுச் சென்ற பணிகளைத் தொடர முடியும்’’ என்றார்.
