Inaugurating the initiative, Shri P.K. Kunhalikutty (Hon’ble Minister for Industries, IT, Artificial Intelligence and Future Technologies, Government of Kerala) highlighted how rapid technological advancements, while creating new opportunities, have also increased the risks of cyber exploitation, emphasising the need to protect ordinary citizens through greater digital awareness and vigilance.

John (Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education) inaugurated the campaign portal, while Shri N. Samsudheen (Hon’ble Minister for General Education and Minority Welfare) launched the campaign logo. Smt. Bindhu Krishna (Hon’ble Minister for Women and Child Development, Labour, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development) released the video inviting people to join as campaign ambassadors. Mr. Muraleedharan Manningal (CEO, ICT Academy of Kerala) was also present and delivered the felicitation address.

The ICT Academy of Kerala (ICTAK) serves as the campaign’s knowledge management and training partner, playing a key role in developing cyber safety learning modules and producing awareness videos to educate citizens about online threats, digital fraud, and responsible technology use. The campaign will initially train 100 Academic Ambassadors and 1,000 Community Ambassadors, aiming to reach one lakh students and one lakh citizens across Kerala.

A key highlight of the launch was the unveiling of ‘Kio’, the SafeTech campaign mascot. The initiative will be implemented through SafeTech Clubs, community-level awareness programmes, and a dedicated online portal, equipping citizens with practical knowledge to recognise cyber threats, prevent online fraud, and use digital services safely.
