1) Pick up litter and throw it away in a garbage can.

2) Blow or sweep fertiliser back onto the grass if it gets onto paved areas. Don't put fertiliser on the grass right before it rains. The chemicals will wash into storm drains and waterways.

3) Mulch or compost grass or yard waste. Or, leave it in your yard if you can't compost. Don't blow leaves into the street. This clogs and damages storm drains.

4) Wash your car or outdoor equipment where it can flow to a gravel or grassy area instead of a street.

5) Don't pour your motor oil down the storm drain. Take it to the nearest auto parts store.

6) Never clean up a spill by hosing it into a storm drain. Place kitty litter, sand, or another absorbent on the spill. Once the liquid becomes solid, sweep it up and throw it in a garbage can.

This process may include data such as the water crops use across the landscape or the water evaporation during the irrigation, as well as much more statistical data related to hydrology.

2) Underground water resource mapping, drills, and the progress of water consumption depending on the withdrawals and recharges.

3) Observe the condition of icebergs over the years, drawing conclusions for the level of rivers, seas, and lakes.

4) Decision making to minimize the influences of all the above possible changes.

Remote sensing gives us the opportunity to use multi-temporal satellites and the new updated Synthetic Aperture Radar sensors (SAR), which allow us to have pictures of the earth even if there are clouds or to detect water when it is stagnant between emergent aquatic plants and forest canopies. Water exposed on the surface can be detected using visible, infrared, and radar images, while freshwater entering natural basins needs thermal infrared sensors. With regard to the soil humidity, microwave radiometers and radars are the best solutions, whereas the storage of groundwater is estimated by gravitational surveys
