Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, commissioned Hi-speed rural broadband network at the Idukki district in Kerala under the Digital India programme, through video-conferencing at a glittering function at Technopark, Trivandrum on 12-01-2015. With the commissioning of the NOFN network, Idukki become the first in India to be connected with high speed rural broadband. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala Shri Oommen Chandy, Hon'ble Minister for Industry and IT, Govt. of Kerala Shri P. K. Kunhalikutty, Secretary Telecom Shri Rakesh Garg, Smt. Aruna Sundararajan IAS, Administrator, USOF & CMD, Bharat Broadband Network Limited, Shri. V S Achuthanandan, Opposition leader, Kerala etc. were present on this occasion.

Kerala IT which is becoming the significant player in attracting IT investments to India, the state of Kerala has been instrumental in bringing world’s largest mega B2B professional IT event, the CeBIT, to India. CeBIT India-2014, one of the biggest IT/ICT meets in the world t is happening this time at Bengaluru from November 12 to 14 aimed at attracting IT investment. Kerala IT is represented at CeBIT India 2014 by high-level officials from the Information Technology Department, including the CEOs of the state’s IT parks — Mr K G Girish Babu of Technopark, Trivandrum , Mr Hrishikesh Nair of Infopark in Kochi, and Mr Ajith Kumar Pillai of Cyberpark — and Mr S Ramnath, the Managing Director of the Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Limited ( ).

Team Kerala IT including high officials and representatives from 24 Kerala based small and medium sized IT companies is participating in Gitex Technology Week.

The delegation led by Mr. K G Girish Babu, Chief Executive Officer, Technopark, Trivandrum, (India’s largest IT park), is organized as a part of the Global IT Connect: Edition II, Kerala’s flagship program to promote IT business. The delegate companies, represented by the respective C-level personnel have expertise in various transformative technologies tailor-made for the Middle-East region.

Kerala IT, the unified single brand developed to promote business opportunities in the field of information technology, will showcase the IT parks in the State, along with various other investment opportunities in the IT and ITeS sectors across the state.

GITEX Technology Week held in Dubai from 16 - 20 October 2014, is the Middle East, Africa and South Asia’s largest, most specialised ICT trade event.

Now on its 34th edition, GITEX features over 25,000 regional C-level executives and over 3,700 international technology companies and over 142,000 trade visitors over the 5 days of the event.
