1. Connected Car: This involves equipping a vehicle or fleet of vehicles with internet access which allows data shar
ing in real time. Major applications include monitoring of the vehicle via GPS through the net thus notifying the user of its location, speed, engine condition and fuel usage to name a few. Anti theft systems and behavior monitoring systems can also be implemented by letting the user receive alerts during events of unauthorized access and rash driving.
2. Digital Life: This refers to the integration of the digital world and the physical world including the objects and environment. A major aspect of this area is home security and automation including street light control. All electrical devices in a house are connected to each other via the internet to allow centralized control from a computer or a smartphone. Security features such as cameras, motion sensors and central locking of doors and windows can be integrated into this system.
3. Internet of Things: This refers to any uniquely identifiable object having a virtual representation on the internet. These objects can vary from complex electrical appliances to simple non electrical everyday objects. All these are fitted with minute machine readable identifiers that give a digital representation to these objects and make them interact with each other. This can have numerous applications in various fields such as product management, waste management, urban planning, social interactions and emergency services.
