Electronic Textiles or e-textiles is an emerging technology with wide applications in various fields including medical, military, sports, safety etc.

Smart fabrics have ability to do many things that normal fabric cannot, including communication, conduct energy and even glow.

Electronic textiles enable electronic components like battery, light, small computers to be embedded into clothes.

E-textiles represent integration at the yarn level. E-yarns are used to make functional circuits, and are made functional by weaving.

The wearable electronics follow the microprocessor model and E-textiles are hybridized with silicon integrated circuits. The weft yarn of this fabric is silk wound with copper foil.

The global e-waste🚮 management size was valued at $49,980 million in 2020 and is projected to reach $143.87 billion 💸by 2028.

E-waste contains special and precious metals including Silver, Gold🪙, Palladium, Indium, and gallium. These scarce elements are widely used in the production of consumer electronics and IT & communication📶 devices.

For instance, in one million mobile phones📱 in e-waste you can find about 250kg of silver, 24kg of gold and 9 tons of copper which is recoverable.

In 2019 alone, global electronic waste generation reached a record high of 53.6 million metric tons. This was an increase of 21% in just 5 years which turns out to be 7.3 kg e-waste per person.

PCB(Printed circuit boards) are made up of several layers, including the substrate, and traces. Traces carry the electrical signals 📶 to different components across the board, without the traces, the PCB wouldn't function🚫. The reason for copper's high level of conductivity is due to only one valence electron, also known as the free electron. Such electrons can travel freely from one atom to another with very low resistance. So free electrons are responsible for transferring electrical⚡ signals.

PCBs rely on electricity to perform their myriad functions. While dozens of substances can carry electric charges, copper is particularly conductive, so instead of wires, copper traces have become the standard choice. From the copper-clad laminate to the traces, Copper is vital for PCBs to work appropriately.

The speed at which electric energy💡 or signal travels along a cable (e.g. copper wire) is actually the speed of electromagnetic wave propagation, not the speed of electric current (electron drift speed).⚡ However, this is true only when the medium is a vacuum.
For a copper wire🔌 conductor with a relative dielectric constant (ϵ/ϵ0) of 3, the speed will be 58% (approximately 60%) of the speed in a vacuum.

The moon 🌕 is at a distance of 384,400 km from Earth 🌍. The speed of light in a vacuum is 292,792,458m/s.
Thus the speed of electric energy in the copper wire will be approximately 196,170,946 m/s.
Time taken ⏱️ =384,400/ 196170946=1.95 ≈2 seconds.
If you observe 🔭this from the earth, you must add the time it will take the signal to return to earth by traveling in the vacuum of space: 2 seconds + 1.3 seconds = 3.3 seconds

Lightning⚡is probably the most recognizable effect of static electricity. Generating millions of
voltage and we all know the damage lightning can do to property and people. Walking over a
carpet can generate 35,000 volts. ☠️The Electrostatic Discharge 🎛(ESD) from this voltage is
not life-threatening but it still hurts.😰
