The fat girl complex.
Most women that i work with think of themselves as too fat and too big. Interestingly this has nothing to do with their size, shape or weight. So a 25 year old who is 54 kgs will tell me that she’s so fat that she can’t bear to look at herself. A 40 year old who’s 69kgs will say the same thing about herself and so will a 65 year old who’s 85 kgs.
Over the years what i have realised is that “fat” is more a state of mind than of the body. And that whether we are 25/55 years of age or 54 /86 kgs, what matters to our health and fitness is how we treat ourselves. How we see ourselves.
What i promise you is that women who see themselves as productive individuals who are worthy of food, get fitter and leaner with time. On the other hand, those who seem themselves as fat at 25, only seem to get fatter at 55. Only this time with more illnesses and poorer self esteem thanks to all the dieting and deprivation in between.
The fastest way to lose weight is to be grateful for your body, to love it and accept it unconditionally. To buy clothes that you would love to wear without any hang ups about size. Health is not a number, it is a state of mind. And we are fine at every size.
The next time you see yourself in the mirror, tell yourself how wow you look.
