What is SSL and why is it important?
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates, sometimes called digital certificates, are used to establish an encrypted connection between a browser or user’s computer and a server or website.

SSL: SECURE SOCKETS LAYER
SSL is standard technology for securing an internet connection by encrypting data sent between a website and a browser (or between two servers). It prevents hackers from seeing or stealing any information transferred, including personal or financial data.

TLS: Transport Layer Security

HTTPS: Hyper Text Protocol Secure
HTTPS appears in the URL when a website is secured by an SSL/TLS certificate. Users can view the details of the certificate, including the issuing authority and the corporate name of the website owner, by clicking the lock symbol on the browser bar.

According to Prof Russell, developing interpersonal skills is something will help youngsters save their jobs from AI in the future.

t Davos Brainstorm 2024 event, Stuart J. Russell, Professor of Computer Science, University of California and Lauren Woodman, CEO, Datakind spoke to Kallie Purie, Vice-Chairperson, and Executive Editor-in-Chief, India Today Group about the impact of AI in the coming future.

On being asked if the relationship between AI and humans is going to be nurturing in nature or extractive and exploitative in the future, both Prof Russell and Woodman believe that this will depend on how we plan to train AI systems.

Prof Russell stated, “We have a choice of how we design AI systems. If we design them correctly, then we should be able to guarantee that they present no risk to us. And if their only guiding principle is our best interests, they should not treat us as babies either because enfeeblement is not what we want for the future of our species, these machines could do everything for us, but they should have our best interests at heart will actually refrain them from doing everything for us so that we can continue to flourish and have our own, have our own civilization that grows.”

Woodman also chimed in, “We have a choice as to how we are going to encourage incentivise, enforce the progress in that direction. There are lots of choices to be made, and this could go sideways at any point in time. And so I think continuous attention should be paid so that those choices are made in the best interest of all of us is critical.”

1. Voice Updates: Now, you can listen to voice messages on channels. This is exciting because people already send 7 billion voice messages on WhatsApp every day.
2. Polls: Channels can now post questions for you to answer.
3. Share to Status: You can share updates from a channel on your own WhatsApp Status.
4. Multiple Admins: A channel can have up to 16 people managing it, making it easier to keep you informed with the latest news.

The ability to have multiple administrators, up to 16, will make it easier to manage and disseminate information using Channels. Essentially, WhatsApp Channels offers a more streamlined and focused way to receive updates from public figures and organisations.

Chinese startup Betavolt says it has invented a nuclear battery that can generate electricity for 50 years without the need for charging or maintenance - Independent.

The company says its battery can power cellphones that never have to be charged at all, drones that can fly forever, medical devices like pacemakers, artificial hearts and hearing aids, and more.

The Chinese say they have packed 63 nuclear isotopes into a module smaller than a coin.

Now the next generation battery has already entered the pilot testing stage. The developers are confident that it will reach mass production for commercial purposes.
