Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Billing Engineer to join our finance/project controls team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of billing, contractual matters, and cost control for our ongoing EPC civil projects. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition, protecting the company's financial interests, and supporting project profitability.
Key Responsibilities
· Bill Preparation & Submission: Prepare and submit interim RA (Running Account) bills, final bills, and other claims as per contract terms.
· Quantity Surveying: Take off quantities from drawings, verify measurements at site, and prepare detailed BOQs (Bill of Quantities).
· Rate Analysis: Analyze and develop rate analysis for items, ensuring alignment with contract agreements and current market rates.
· Contract Management: Thoroughly understand the contract documents (GCC, SCC, BOQ, drawings, specifications) to ensure billing is compliant.
· Client Coordination: Liaise with clients and consultants for bill certification, negotiations, and resolving any queries related to invoices.
· Variation Orders & Claims: Identify, prepare, and negotiate variation orders, extra items claims, and escalation claims as per contract provisions.
· MIS & Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of all bills submitted, certified, and paid. Prepare regular billing status and project financial reports for management.
· Cost Control Support: Work closely with the project team to monitor project costs versus budgets and highlight variances.
· Software Proficiency: Utilize MS Excel extensively and industry-standard software like ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), MS Office, and AutoCAD for reviewing drawings.
Required Skills and Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (B.Tech/B.E.) or a Diploma in Civil Engineering.
· Experience: Minimum of 6 years of proven experience as a Billing Engineer, Quantity Surveyor, or Commercial Engineer in the EPC or construction industry.
· Technical Knowledge:
· In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
· Strong understanding of contract laws, billing procedures, and standard methods of measurement (e.g., IS 1200).
· Expertise in preparing RA bills, final bills, and claim statements.
· Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Formulas) is mandatory. Experience with ERP software and AutoCAD is a strong advantage.
· Analytical Skills: Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
· Communication: Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with clients and consultants.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience working on large-scale industrial, commercial, or infrastructure EPC projects.
· Professional certification in Quantity Surveying or similar field is a plus.
