"A town where time stopped more than 100 years ago."
Bodie (The Ghost Town)
Bodie, California, is a remarkably
preserved ghost town and former
gold-mining settlement located in
Mono County, within the eastern Sierra
Nevada Mountains of the United
States. Now known as Bodie State
Historic Park, it offers a vivid glimpse
into life during the late 19th-century
mining boom. The site is maintained in
a condition of "arrested decay' making
it one of the best-preserved Gold
Rush-era towns in the American West.
Bodie was once a booming gold-mining town. Today it stands mostly abandoned.
Visitors often describe an eerie silence and stories have grown around taking souvenirs from the town. Some believe removing items brings bad luck until they're returned.
