🌿 "Earth is now our only shareholder." 🌍

In a world where chasing net worth usually dominates the headlines, Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard decided to write a completely different story.

Instead of taking the company public or selling it for billions, Chouinard and his family transferred 100% of the company's voting stock and non-voting stock to a specially designed trust and non-profit organization.

What does that actually mean?

100% of profits not reinvested back into running Patagonia will now go directly toward fighting climate change and protecting wild land across the globe.

Chouinard officially gave up his billionaire status to ensure the brand stays true to its core purpose forever.

Sixteen years since the Hudson Miracle: US Airways Flight 1549 made an emergency landing on the Hudson River after a bird strike disabled both engines. Captain Sullenberger’s skill saved all 155 on board. The A320 now rests at Charlotte Air Museum.

A powerful 7.1 magnitude earthquake has struck Japan's Kumamoto, leaving at least 13 people dead, dozens injured, and seven still missing.

The quake sparked fires, brought down bridges and buildings, toppled steel towers, and disrupted electricity to around 48,000 households.

Japan sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, making it one of the world's most earthquake-prone countries and the site of around one-fifth of all magnitude 6.0 or stronger earthquakes

Tom Kopke is 23, German, and holds a Guinness World Record for the fastest time to solve a rotating puzzle cube 23.333 seconds. Over Mossel Bay, South Africa, in
February.

Then he opened his parachute.

The number is the part that gets you. Twenty-three seconds is a decent solve for a competent speedcuber sitting at a table with a timer in front of them. He did it while falling out of the sky at roughly 120 miles an hour, in wind loud enough to make thought difficult, wearing gloves, with a finite and non-negotiable deadline underneath him

Oliver Alvis, a British train driver from Wiltshire, England, said he has been unable to sleep since one night in December 2023. At first, he believed it was just a stressful night, but the problem never went away. Days turned into weeks, then months, and he said he never felt sleepy again. Describing his condition to Mail Online, he said, "I don't just have a lack of sleep; it's the total disappearance of sleep. I don't feel sleepy. I don't fall asleep. I'm in a permanent state of alertness."

After more than a week without sleep, Oliver quit his job as a train driver in January 2024 because he feared for passenger safety. He sold his home, moved back in with his mother, and spent his savings traveling to countries including Turkey, Colombia, India, and others across Europe in search of treatment.

Doctors have been unable to explain his condition. One possible theory is a rare disorder called paradoxical insomnia, but Oliver believes it does not fit his experience. He continues searching for answers, saying he would give everything he owns just to sleep again.

Tom Holland and Zendaya threw a second wedding celebration in England — and he has a new ring to prove it!

A source tells ET the couple hosted an intimate gathering on Tuesday at Beaverbrook, a country estate in Surrey near Tom's hometown. The wildflower-themed celebration was for family and close friends, with Tom's brothers all wearing matching floral buttonholes.

Guests stayed in cottages on the property and, following the festivities, Z's family was spotted enjoying an outdoor brunch at the hotel.

The celebration comes after Law Roach first told ET that the two were secretly married at the Actors Awards in March. Since then, Zendaya has been spotted wearing her wedding band, while Tom never sported a ring during the back-to-back press tours for 'The Odyssey' and 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' — though he did refer to Zendaya as his "wife."

Now, Tom has a ring all his own! The couple was spotted on a walk in London with the newest family member: Phil — a pocket bully they adopted in May — who joins their Dobermann, Daphne, and Miniature Schnauzer, Noon.

It certainly is a 𝒷𝓇𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝓃𝑒𝓌 𝒹𝒶𝓎 for these two!

In the Netherlands, civilians are not allowed to carry pepper spray. As a legal alternative, the X-Marker, often called the "Smurf spray", was introduced.

Instead of releasing an irritating chemical, it sprays a bright blue ink that sticks to an attacker's face and clothing.

The stain is designed to stay visible for several days, even after repeated washing, making it easier for police to identify suspects.

Rather than stopping an attacker, its purpose is to leave a lasting mark that can help investigators.

Supporters believe it is a useful identification tool, while critics argue it cannot replace effective protection during a dangerous encounter.

The "Smurf spray" remains one of the Netherlands' most unusual legal self-defense products.

A teenager d**d in his mother's arms after he was st*bbed in the neck defending his family from thieves in their home.

Hussain Chaudhry was an 18 year old first year law student who lost his life while trying to protect his mom during a violent robbery outside their home.

The attackers had posed as customers to target the family’s online designer clothing business, and during the confrontation, Hussain was fatally stabbed while his mother and brother were also seriously injured.

Chaudhry’s sister, Afia, described his final moments in a post on a fundraising page set up in his memory.

“Yesterday my beautiful baby brother left this world the same way he came in, cradled in my mother’s arms,” she wrote.

She added that he had d*ed defending his family, and that in his final moments, “his eyes were bright, his face showed no pain, he was at peace.”

Over £120,000 ($161,000) was raised in Hussain Chaudhry's memory, to fund construction projects, including contributing toward building a local mosque in his honor.

Ward and Morris were each sentenced to 20 years in prison. Nguyen was handed 18 months in prison.

This woman doesn't give up on disabled dogs. She gives them a better life than they've ever seen before.

In Ankara, Turkey, Buket Özgünlü serves as the chairwoman of the Association of Paws Holding onto Life, where she oversees a rural sanctuary housing around 560 rescued dogs.

Over 300 of the animals under her care suffer from severe physical disabilities, paralysis, or trauma resulting from abuse, accidents, and abandonment on the streets.

Drawing personal inspiration from her experience caring for her mobility-impaired father, Özgünlü sought a creative way to improve the emotional well-being and daily mental stimulation of her special-needs animals.

To give paralyzed dogs an opportunity to explore beyond their immediate enclosures, Özgünlü constructed a custom "dog train" by connecting a series of repurposed plastic barrels mounted on wheeled chassis.

Each barrel is painted in bright colors, fitted with open seating cutouts, and attached to an ATV or vehicle to safely tow the dogs through nearby fields and country roads.

The daily outings allow the dogs to experience fresh air, movement, and changing scenery, turning therapeutic care into an engaging community attraction.
