Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 explosion caught on video: Report
---------------------------------------------------

See this::--https://youtu.be/7KrbomSF_WE

The incident was captured on video and shows the smartphone completely burnt.
Just as we put behind the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 nightmare, news of a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 smartphone exploding has filtered in. The blast occurred in Bengaluru, and surprisingly, it was not at home, but at a store. The blast was captured on camera. This is the first such case of a Redmi Note 4 smartphone exploding though previously, other Xiaomi smartphones have been in news for randomly bursting into fire. The video in question was captured on the CCTV inside the store.

In the video uploaded by Phone Radar on YouTube, the entire blast is clearly seen. BGR India received a tip regarding the incident from a Twitter user but could not verify the authenticity of the video and has reached out to Xiaomi India for comment. Xiaomi responded by saying, “At Xiaomi, customer safety is of utmost importance to us. We have reached out to the customer to investigate this matter, and are awaiting further response.”

As per an initial report by TechCase, the Bengaluru resident purchased the Redmi Note 4 and visited a nearly local store for inserting SIM into the device. The video shows exactly how the blast occurs. Arjun, the owner of the smartphone hands over the phone to the shop boy. As soon as he tries to open the SIM slot for inserting the card, the phone instantly bursts into flames.
The phone is in the man’s hand as it bursts into flames. The phone continues to be engulfed in flames for a few moments before those in the store rushed to put the fire out. The video shows the device completely destroyed. There has been no word on any injury to the store owner as he held the device in his hands when the blast occurred. The incident took place on July 17, but Xiaomi India is yet to reach out to the owner, suggests the TechCase report. The owner has since then filed a report against the manufacturer at the nearest police station in Bengaluru.

Jio Phone, Free With Rs. 1,500 Deposit, Unlimited 4G Data, Launched by Mukesh Ambani at Reliance AGM
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Reliance Jio announced its feature phone on Friday
* Plans start at Rs. 153 with unlimited data, voice, and SMS
* You pay Rs. 1,500 for the phone, which is fully refundable
after 3 years

JioPhone made a splash at the Reliance AGM on Friday as Mukesh Ambani took the covers off the long-rumoured 4G feature phone. The handset, introduced as "India ka Smartphone" and launched at an "effective price" of Rs. 0 (though buyers will have to shell out a refundable, upfront deposit of Rs. 1,500 for the device). JioPhone will be crucial for the company in tapping the estimated 50 crore feature phone users who have not been able to join the Jio 4G bandwagon because of the high costs associated with smartphones.

Although Reliance Jio launched in India in September, the company's offering has been restricted to smartphone users as it is a 4G only network, and to make calls, a phone has to support the VoLTE technology, which is usually not found on basic phones. The company aims to change that with the JioPhone, which comes with 4G VoLTE support. The JioPhone will include access to apps like JioCinema, JioTV, and JioMusic.

* JioPhone release date and other availability details
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The phone will be available from August 15 - for testing, in beta, and will be up for pre-booking from August 24 from the MyJio app and Jio offline stores. Users who pre-book will be able to buy the phone from September, on a first come first serve basis. It will come with a couple of different data packs.

* JioPhone plans
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Users can either pay Rs. 153 per month, for which they will get free voice and SMS, and unlimited data (high-speed data FUP is 500MB per day), along with Jio apps. They can also choose to pay Rs. 309 per month to get all this, plus the support for mirroring your screen on a TV, via a cable that can even be plugged into CRT TVs. After three years, you can return the phone, and get a full refund on the deposit. Aside from that, the company will also have two sachet packs, at Rs. 24 for two days, or Rs. 54 per week, for users who don't want to commit to Rs. 153 as an upfront payment.

* JioPhone features and specifications
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The JioPhone was introduced by Akash and Isha Ambani, revealing the phone’s support voice commands, along with standard feature phone functionality. Isha Ambani said that the phone looks familiar by design, to ensure that it is easy to use. The phone comes with a number of apps and browser installed aside from Jio’s offerings too. On stage, we caught glimpses of the JioPhone browser, Facebook, and also PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat broadcast.

The company will also be adding NFC support to the JioPhone to allow tap and pay solutions with a linked bank account, Akash Ambani said. This will also support UPI payments, and debit and credit card payments, similar to Samsung Pay, he said. The company confirmed the phone will have a 2.4-inch display, panic button, expandable storage, and FM radio, among other features. Key JioPhone specifications leaked before the launch included dual SIM functionality, 2-megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera, FM radio, and Bluetooth connectivity. The JioPhone has also been tipped to come with a 4GB of internal storage, and 512MB of RAM.

"There are 78 crore mobile phones in India," Mukesh Ambani pointed out. "However, in this 78 crore, there are more than 50 crore feature phone users, who have been left out. They can neither afford the cheapest LTE smartphone, nor the exorbitant cost of data."

"Data is the oxygen of digital life, and no Indian should suffer because of unaffordability," he added. "Sadly the vast majority of mobile users are starved of data. This unfairness must end, and Jio is committing to ending it today."

To accomplish this, the company needs to deliver on three pillars, Ambani said - connectivity, data affordability, and device affordability. "Jio is a data strong network built for the Internet from the ground up," he said. "The TRAI speedtest portal has consistently ranked Jio as the clear 4G network leader in coverage, usage, and data speeds."

"Our network continues to rapidly expand. Jio, in the next 12 months, will cover 99 percent of the population. India's 4G coverage will be more than its 2G coverage," he added. To meet the need for device affordability, the company realised it would have to release a 4G VoLTE feature phone, as even an entry level smartphone costs between Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 4,500, Ambani said.

Jio Phone Comes With Dedicated Rs. 153 Plan; Jio Phone TV-Cable Announced Too
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* JioPhone will come with exciting data plans
* Voice calls will always be free on the JioPhone, Ambani said
* The company also announced two sachets for data usage

With the JioPhone finally launched, there is a lot of excitement in the market to see whether the handset would be emulate the success of the Reliance Jio telecom venture. A lot of the attention is being bestowed upon the "effective price" of Rs. 0 that Mukesh Ambani announced at the event, which - coupled with the features that the Jio phone boasts of - makes it a deal worth checking out for all feature phone users. But that's not all, as the company also launched a dedicated Rs. 153 Jio plan for JioPhone buyers that provides them all the benefits of the plans released for smartphones, but at roughly half the price.

The new Rs. 153 Jio recharge pack with 28-day validity offers unlimited 4G Internet access; high-speed Internet is limited to 500MB per day, after which the speed would drop. SMSs, and calls are free on the network with this pack, and users will also get access to Jio apps. The plan should be available to purchase on August 15 for beta testers of the device.

Jio Phone TV-Cable
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rs. 153 plan, however, was not the only one announced for the Jio phone - there is another plan that comes with a bundled accessory. The accessory is the JioPhone-TV Cable, which can mirror content playing on apps such as JioTV and JioCinema on the phone onto a TV. This cable will be play to play videos on both modern and legacy CRT television sets. Subscribers of Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Plan, who pay Rs. 309 every month, will be able to use the service via the Jio Phone TV-Cable.

In addition, Mukesh Ambani also announced two sachets - available at Rs. 24 for two days of data usage, and Rs. 54 for a week-worth use - that JioPhone users could opt for should they need additional data or data just for a limited period time.

Of course, you will have to wait for August 24 to be able to pre-book a JioPhone using the MyJio app or from a Jio retailer, and the handset won't go on sale till September. Though introduced as free of cost, you will need to pay an upfront price of Rs. 1,500 to get your hands on the device, though this sum is refundable at the end of three years.

Lenovo shows off concept flexible phone, AI assistant, smart projector and more
----------------------------------------------
Lenovo let its imagination go wild and showed the result at the Lenovo Tech World summit. Note that these are concepts that may never see the light of day, though we do hope some of their functions make it to actual Lenovo products.

The Lenovo Cplus concept phone is very flexible, much more so than an LG G Flex, for example. It uses a 4.35” AMOLED screen and a real leather back (with a choice of many colors).

The goal is to wear the Android-running Cplus like a bracelet, which will allow it to function like a smartwatch. You can easily transition to smartphone mode (the handset uses ESIM).

There’s a new digital assistant – CAVA – which will use facial recognition and natural language processing. It will be able to make recommendations based on your calendar.

Besides your phone, Lenovo’s smart tech will also live in the SmartCast+, a cross between the Xperia Touch projector and Amazon Alexa (the company already has a classic smart speaker). Lenovo wants the SmartCast+ to be able to recognize objects and sounds, which will enable Augmented Reality functions.

Speaking of AR, the daystAR is a standalone headset, which will offer a 40° field of view and do all the processing itself (not needing a PC or a phone).

Then there’s a SmartVest, which will have much more accurate tracking of your exercise routine thanks to ECG sensors. It will also be much more comfortable to wear all day and night.

mAadhaar Lets You Carry Aadhaar In Your Pocket: How to Download, and Everything Else You Need to Know
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aadhaar card holders will now be able to carry their information on their smartphone, courtesy the mAadhaar app launched by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). To use the mAadhaar or 'mobile Aadhaar' app, users need to have their phone number registered with UIDAI. Once the process is complete, they can download their details on the app, which will show data suc has name, date of birth, gender, address and the photograph on the device. With this mAadhaar, users will not need to carry around the hard copy of their Aadhaar with them anymore. This is another step by the government to digitise processes in the country, and make initiatives streamlined using technology.

The mAadhaar app, which is already available for download on Google Play, has been launched only for Android users as of now but might be released for iOS soon as well. Notably, the app also allows users to lock or unlock biometrics data. "Once resident enables Biometric Locking system their biometric remains locked till the Aadhaar Holder chose to either Unlock it (which is temporary) or Disable the Locking system." Interestingly, the mAadhaar app also comes with "Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP)" feature that can be used instead of SMS-based OTP.

With the mAadhaar app, users will be able to get the updated view of the profile upon completion of the update request and they will even be able to share QR code and password protected eKYC data to retrieve accurate demographic information from it instead of manual entry.

However, the app is currently in beta stage, notes UIDAI in its announcement tweet, and some of the features will be made available post future updates. To recall, a new amendment to the tax proposals in the Finance Bill for 2017-18 made it mandatory from July 1 for anyone who has a PAN card to provide their Aadhaar number to the principal director general of income tax (systems) or DGIT (systems)

Facebook Camera Gets Its Own Animated GIF Image Creator-----------------------------------------------------------------...

Facebook Camera Gets Its Own Animated GIF Image Creator
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
* The new feature has been spotted on Facebook for iOS
* Users will be able to create short GIFs that can be shared
* Facebook last month introduced the GIF option in the
comments section

When it comes to communication on social media platforms, animated GIF images are perhaps as important as emojis. These two have in a way managed to carve a language for its own and are at times the preferred form of expression than having to type long sentences. GIF images are already popular on Facebook, which just recently added a GIF option in the comments section. Now, the social networking giant is letting you make your own GIFs with the addition of a GIF mode in Facebook Camera.

The new GIF mode in Facebook Camera was discovered by The Next Web's Director of Social Media Matt Navarra, who reported seeing a new GIF option on the top of Facebook camera. Notably, the feature was found only on iOS and could not be seen on Android, suggesting that it could be rolling out just for iOS as of now. We couldn't see the feature on iOS either, which means it is yet to roll out to everyone.

As the feature rolls out, users will find the new GIF option when they swipe right to open camera. TNW's report says that the GIFs created through the feature are short, lasting only a few seconds, which is pretty much how GIFs are meant to be. You will also be able to use Facebook's effects and frames that were normally available in the camera. The GIF images you make can be saved to your device, posted on your profile or to your Facebook story.

Facebook last month introduced the GIF option in the comments section as part of the 30th birthday of the GIF format. You can already send GIFs on Messenger and Facebook-owned WhatsApp, but the ability to make your own GIFs now means you'll have more creative freedom in expressing what you what without having to rely and search through existing GIF images. It also means that you won't have download third-party apps to make your own GIFs if Facebook is baking the feature right into its app.
