* Enable Shadow Copy.
* Keep Macros disabled
* Enable Pop up blocker.
* Keep your antivirus updated with latest signature files. Scan your machine regularly for any malware infection.
* Keep your Operating system updated with latest patches provided by Microsoft.
* Enable Windows firewall with right mix of rules to avoid any unauthorized access to your machine.
* Avoid opening any mail from Unknown sources.
* Avoid to email attachments with these extns. (.docm, .exe, .cmd, .scr, .lnk, .docm, .vbs, .js, ade, adp, ani, bas, bat, chm, cmd, com, cpl, crt, hlp, ht, hta, inf, ins, isp, job, js, jse, lnk, mda, mdb, mde, mdz, msc, msi, msp, mst, pcd, reg, scr, sct, shs, url, vb, vbe, vbs, wsc, wsf, wsh.
* Block any unsolicited mail or mail ids to avoid any unwanted situation.
* Remove shared folder access.
* Disable windows File sharing.
* Rename vssadmin.exe, it administers the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) on a Windows machine. Typically Ransomware disable this process and delete the shadow copy so that recovery of file is not possible.
