Fibre Channel will come with 32-Gigabit, 128-Gigabit speeds in 2016

Storage teams will be able to double the performance of their Fibre Channel infrastructure starting in 2016, while the real speed demons among them will have a chance to multiply it by eight times.

"Gen 6" Fibre Channel switches and adapters that can deliver 128Gbps (bits per second) should hit the market in 2016, the Fibre Channel Industry Association said on Tuesday. That same year, vendors will also offer Gen 6 products with 32Gbps, it said. Fibre Channel specifications are developed by a committee of ANSI (the American National Standards Institute) in cooperation with the industry group.

Digital technologies are changing the way students and teachers communicate in the classroom. Devices, apps and software are being developed to let teachers give pop quizzes, check to see how much students comprehend, and determine when they're ready to move on. Students use a mobile app to communicate with the teacher, who can see and respond to their answers to questions.

Hull church gets a set of wirelessly controlled bells....

A Hull church is ringing the changes with a set of bells that can be played remotely using a wireless keyboard.Holy Trinity Church in the city centre was gifted the 15 bells by an anonymous benefactor.
The set of bells, known as a chime, form a tuned scale allowing them to be rung in sequence to play music.
As well as being operated live via Wi-Fi , the bells can also play computer controlled tunes, with a repertoire that runs from traditional hymns and carols to pop songs.

Hackers knock League of Legends offline

Hugely popular online game League of Legends (LoL) was knocked offline for a few hours on 30 December by hackers.

It was one of several games and social media sites targeted by the Derp hacking group.

Reports suggest the attack was more mischievous than malicious and was partly aimed at US pro-gamer James Varga.

The attack ended with police calling at Mr Varga's house in response to a fake call saying hostages were held there.
