Google DeepMind's new AI agent uses reinforcement learning to detect and correct errors in a quantum processor while it is actively running, not during scheduled maintenance or downtime.

It manages over 1,000 control parameters simultaneously, including microwave pulse amplitude, frequency, and coupling strength, continuously rather than in batches.

India's semiconductor story is often celebrated, but the numbers deserve a closer look. 📊

According to Forrester's Global Sovereignty Forecast (2025–2030), India's chip production capability score is projected to move from 0% to 13% by 2030.

That is real progress, but it measures self-reliance in production capability, not global market share.

Zoom out further, and India's overall Technology Sovereignty score moves from 32% to just 35% over the same five years, while economies like the US, South Korea, Japan and China already operate from a much stronger base.

The bigger challenge is not fabrication capacity alone. Sovereignty depends on talent, AI infrastructure, data centers and a robust software ecosystem growing alongside hardware investment.

Building fabs is capital intensive, but building true technology independence requires investment across every layer of the stack.

As India accelerates its semiconductor mission, the real strategic question is what should be prioritized first: production share or sovereignty depth?
