Have an impressive resume.
Give all the right answers.
And still leave important questions unanswered.

Verification helps establish what can actually be confirmed.
Employment history.
Education.
Identity.
Address.
References.
The point isn’t to distrust candidates.
It’s to make sure an important hiring decision isn’t based on assumptions.
Good interviews create confidence.
Good verification gives that confidence a foundation.
