The Aspiring Minds report says that despite the fact that the IT sector carries out the highest number of recruitments from the pool of engineers, only 18.43 per cent engineers are skilled enough to work there, while, for IT product roles, the numbers are as low as 3.21 per cent.

Due to comparatively higher employment in the IT sector, students even from other disciplines take up IT-related courses. Thus, the end result of this inadequate education creates engineering graduates who are not well-versed in their core subjects, nor in IT.

TCS 2018 off campus jobs for freshers

Here is a list of the eligibility criteria:
If you are an engineering student who will be graduating in the year 2018
You can be from any of the following disciplines – BE/ B.Tech/ ME/ M. Tech
You may have had MCA with BSc / BCA / BCom / BA (with Maths / Statistics background)
You may have had MSc in Computer Science / Information technology

You should have a minimum aggregate marks score of 60 percent or above in your first attempt in all academic courses from standard X and onwards.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has given 20,000 job offers to fresh graduates and another 4,000 to non-freshers this year, a top executive said on Wednesday, even as hiring of engineers by the information technology (IT) industry is expected to decline in the coming years.

Ajoyendra Mukherjee, executive vice-president and head of global human resources, TCS, said the company had carried out an off-campus recruitment drive in January- February.
