Generation Z, defined as those born from the mid-1990s to the early 2010s, is a demographic known for its digital nativity and profound influence on social and consumer trends.

Social media, especially Instagram, significantly shapes their shopping habits, with 85% of Gen Z shoppers influenced by these platforms in their purchasing decisions.

This influence is evident in their preference for brand discovery, peer validation, and seamless shopping experiences directly on social media, where nearly half engage in shopping or browsing weekly.

Key impacts of social media on Gen Z shopping include:

Discovery and Inspiration: They find new trends and products through visually rich social media content.

Social Proof: Peer recommendations and authentic reviews on social media guide their purchasing choices.

Brand Interaction: Direct communication with brands on these platforms builds community and loyalty.
Seamless Shopping: Social media's integrated shopping features meet Gen Z's expectations for convenience and immediacy.
Engaging Gen Z consumers requires brands to prioritize authenticity, leverage influencer partnerships, and utilize social media's dynamic ecosystem to turn interest into action. This approach is essential for tapping into the habits and preferences of this digitally savvy generation.

have you heard about Deinfluencer?

Someone who actively encourages people to resist the consumerism that influencers on social media frequently promote is known as a "deinfluencer." Instead of promoting products or lifestyles, deinfluencers focus on urging their audience to question the necessity and value of buying certain products or following certain trends.

This movement can be seen as a response to the pervasive culture of consumption on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, where influencers frequently endorse products or services.

Deinfluencers emphasize sustainability, ethical consumption, and the significance of resisting the influence of online trends and advertisements in order to counteract the relentless push towards buying and accumulating goods.

Difference between Influencers and Deinfluencers:

Influencers: Typically promote products, services, or lifestyles, often in partnership with brands, to encourage their followers to make purchases or adopt certain trends.

Deinfluencers: Focus on encouraging their audience to critically assess their consumption habits, question the necessity of purchases, and resist the influence of marketing and trends promoted by influencers.

So he isn't a kind of influencer? what do you think?

It feels as if I should start with "once upon a time," but I'll refrain. These days, it all seems to hark back to such a time anyway. The year was either 1991 or 1992—my memory isn't what it used to be, a peculiar advantage of getting older, as Cicero said “I remember the very thing that I do not wish to; I cannot forget the things I wish to forget.”. Sadly, that is my case.

I was new to the advertising world at the time and worked at Everest Advertising.
I had written a radio ad. The moment I learned we'd be recording with Ameen Sayani, my excitement was beyond words. Imagine growing up listening to someone's program, and then one day, you're working with them.

This also brings me to my penchant for imperfection. Despite having written over 200 commercials, I could never fit them to the allocated 20 or 30 seconds—they always ran long.

I am forever thankful to the voice-over artists for their patience in the studio, helping me trim my work to fit.

Now, back to Ameen Sahab. Along with two marketing colleagues, I attended the recording session, nerves and all. Supervising and directing a voice-over artist, especially someone of Ameen Sahab's stature, was daunting. Yet, the mark of true greatness is making others feel at ease, showing no concern for one's experience level.
I've worked with many famous voice artists—Harish Bhimani, Chetan, Brij Ji, Sunil Grover, Ninad—without a hitch, except once with a junior artist.

Ameen Ji, upon reviewing the script, noted it was too long. Seeing my anxious look, he reassured me, promising to make it work. What I admire most about his voice is the tempo—fast yet clear. Unlike other recordings that are sped up to fit time, his needed no adjustment.
The twist came when the client rejected the ad, disliking the voice of the nation's most loved voice.
We informed Ameen Sahab, who took it in stride. We re-recorded with a different voice, and the client was satisfied.

Yet, this experience etched Ameen Sahab's greatness in my mind forever.

Farewell, Ameen Sahab. Your legacy is unforgettable.

I meet some amazing people on Facebook who are over 70, even over 80, and that truly inspires me. It encourages me to interact with these remarkable individuals. Their stories and energy challenge the conventional view of aging, showing that passion and engagement don't have to fade with time.

After decades of arduous labor, retirement is frequently viewed as a moment to take a step back and enjoy the quiet.

In my socioeconomic background, this period is typically associated with settling into a quieter lifestyle at home.

However, this transition can sometimes lead to feelings of isolation and redundancy for some. Despite the comfort of home, they find themselves missing a sense of connection and purpose.

My network in Mumbai may be limited, but the inspiring stories I find online paint a more complete picture of what aging entails.

It is not just about the physical changes; it is also about nurturing one's spirit, remaining curious, and discovering new ways to contribute and feel valued.

One of my own enriching experiences came from teaching online courses on creativity and design that didn't require complex software. Many of my students were over the age of 60, looking to expand their knowledge in their retirement.

Their enthusiasm for embracing new challenges was eye-opening. When asked about their motivation, one student simply said, "Now I'm retired, so I'm learning something new."

This interaction underscored the importance of lifelong learning and staying engaged with the world around us.

The determination of those who continue to pursue their interests and passions well into their later years serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring potential and vitality within each of us. It invites us to view retirement not as an end but as a rich opportunity for growth, exploration, and joy.

By embracing this phase of life with an open heart and mind, we can ensure our golden years are filled with purpose, connection, and the satisfaction of continuing to evolve and make a difference.

If you are over 60 and are wondering how to spend your time, or if you are looking for inspiration on what to do next and could use some assistance, please send a message.

Let us brainstorm together to come up with something fulfilling and enjoyable for you to do.

Your golden years are a canvas yet to be fully painted, and together, we can discover vibrant colors and patterns to make it viable.

Have you ever seen a fire bucket marked "FIRE" but found it filled with sand instead? Interestingly, millions of Facebook accounts resemble this paradox. In fact, Facebook claims it removed 1.3 billion fake accounts, leaving us to imagine the staggering number of total fake accounts still out there. In this digital era, distinguishing genuine connections from faux ones on Facebook is more crucial than ever. Here’s a practical guide to help you navigate through friend requests on Facebook:

Quick Research Is Key: A simple Google search using the requester's name or their profile picture can be a first step in verifying their identity. This small effort can help ensure you're connecting with real people.
Valuable Connections: Before accepting a friend request, consider the potential value the connection might bring. Whether for personal enrichment or professional networking, the addition should have a positive impact on your social circle.

Be Selective: It's entirely acceptable to ignore requests from individuals who don't seem to align with your interests or values. Your Facebook should reflect a space filled with meaningful interactions and connections.

Single or Multiple Accounts: Encountering multiple accounts for the same person can be a red flag. Directly asking about these accounts can clarify doubts and potentially avoid fake connections.

Check Mutual Friends: Mutual friends can provide context about a requester, but they aren't an absolute measure of authenticity. Consider how the person interacts with these mutual connections to better understand their genuineness.

Profile Activity and History: Legitimate profiles usually display a consistent history of genuine posts, photos, and interactions. A lack of activity or only recent posts could indicate a less authentic account.

Examine the Friend List and Friend's Images: The company one keeps can be telling. Reviewing a person's friend list and the images used by their friends can offer additional insights into their real-life connections and authenticity.

Navigating the sea of Facebook friend requests with a critical eye can help maintain the integrity of your social network. Remember, in a world where appearances can be deceiving, a little scrutiny goes a long way in fostering genuine connections.

As a copywriter (who does not copy) with three decades of experience, I have developed a deep appreciation for the art of wordplay, particularly puns. Puns, those delightful turns of phrase where words with multiple meanings or similar sounds create a humorous or rhetorical effect, are a staple in English-language advertising. English, with its vast vocabulary and homophones, is fertile ground for puns, providing endless opportunities for clever, memorable advertising.

For instance, a classic example of a pun is: "Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana." Here, the word 'flies' is used both as a verb in the first part and as a noun in the second, while 'like' shifts from a simile to a preference. This clever manipulation of language results in a humorous and thought-provoking statement.

Contrastingly, Hindi, while a rich and expressive language, doesn't lend itself as easily to puns, at least not in the same way as English. This is partly due to its structure and partly due to cultural aspects of language use. In modern times, the use of puns in Hindi literature has seen a decline. This departure from a stylistic device once embraced in the medieval period by poets is notable.

However, discovering Hindi puns was a delightful experience. and I am happy to share. enjoy !

👉❌📵Your Facebook experience should be enjoyable and safe. It's essential to be mindful of whom you're connected with. Sometimes, unfriending or unfollowing is necessary for maintaining a healthy digital space.

Here's a checklist of signs that it might be time to reconsider some of your Facebook friendships:

👉❌📵The Immediate Video Caller: Be cautious of new friends who push for video calls right away. Healthy relationships respect boundaries and build trust gradually.

👉❌📵Excessive Love Emoji User: A flood of love emojis from a recent friend can be overwhelming. Balanced and respectful communication is key.

👉❌📵The 'Dear' Enthusiast: Constant use of overly familiar terms like 'dear' in every message can feel invasive, particularly if it makes you uncomfortable.

👉❌📵👉❌📵Inappropriate Image Sender: Sending vulgar or unwanted images without your consent is a serious violation of your boundaries.

👉❌📵The Negative Content Poster: Continuous exposure to negative or disturbing posts can impact your well-being. Protect your mental space by unfriending if necessary.

👉❌📵The Spam Inviter: If someone is constantly bombarding you with irrelevant group, game, or event invites, it may be time to rethink that connection.

👉❌📵The Personal Information Seeker: Be cautious of those who probe too much into your personal life, especially if you don't know them well.

👉❌📵The Money Requester: Watch out for friends who ask for money, particularly if it seems out of character. This could be a sign of a fake or compromised account.

👉❌📵The Political Agitator: Aggressive political debates or divisive content that makes you uncomfortable is a valid reason to unfriend.

👉❌📵The Ghost Profile: Profiles lacking personal information, activity, or mutual friends might be fake. It's wise to connect with people you

👉❌📵The One-Sided Communicator: If a connection only reaches out when they need something, without engaging in meaningful interaction, consider their place in your friend list.

👉❌📵The Indiscriminate Tagger: Beware of those who tag you in posts indiscriminately, regardless of whether it's relevant to you or not. It's a sign of disrespect for your online presence and preferences.

Your page, profile, or friend should reflect what makes you feel comfortable and happy. Don't hesitate to curate your friend list for a more positive social media experience. Your digital well-being is important!

In 2023, Google's top search was for mango pickle, a popular Indian recipe. ymmmmm.

This spicy, tangy treat is a favorite in a country where mangoes are a craze.

Surprisingly, the second most searched recipe was 'S*x on the Beach,' a cocktail from Florida. Made with vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice, and cranberry juice, it's a hit for its sweet and tangy flavors and is loved by cocktail fans and partygoers.

The key to social media success is to build a loyal and engaged audience.

These are the ways you can build such audience

Sharing personal content on social media, especially as a poet, can greatly improve your connection with your audience. Here are some ideas for content that reflects your personal journey and passion for poetry:

1.Open yourself. Share snippets of your daily life, writing process, or the environment where you create your poetry. This could include your workspace, favorite writing spots, or tools of your craft. Even your writing pad page is worth sharing.

2. Personal Stories and Inspirations: Share stories about what inspires your poetry. This could be personal experiences, people you've met, places you've visited, or even significant life events.

3. Life Journey: Discuss your journey. This could include challenges you've faced, milestones you've achieved, and how you've grown and evolved in your craft.

4. Reading Recommendations: Share books or poems that have influenced you. Discussing what you read not only gives insight into your tastes but also fosters a sense of community with your followers.

4. Participation in Events: If you attend poetry readings, workshops, or literary events, share your experiences. Post photos or short videos from these events, or write about what you learned or enjoyed.

5. Reflections on Current Events: Share your thoughts on current events or social issues, especially if they inspire your poetry. This shows that you're engaged with the world and can make your work more relatable.

6. Interactive Q&A Sessions: Host Q&A sessions where your followers can ask you about your life, your poetry, or any advice you might have for aspiring poets.

7. Personal Achievements: Celebrate your achievements with your audience, whether it's the completion of a poem, the publication of a book, or any recognition or award you receive.

8. Creative Process: Discuss your creative process. How do you come up with ideas? Do you have any particular rituals or routines that help you write?

9. Personal Challenges: If you're comfortable, share the challenges or obstacles you've faced in your personal life or career. This can humanize you and make your journey more relatable.

10. Hobbies and Interests: Share your hobbies and interests outside of poetry. This can help your audience see you as a well-rounded individual and create more points of connection.
11. Engage with Followers: Actively engage with your followers. Respond to their comments. Sometimes a few words are sufficient, while other times an emoji is sufficient.
Remember, the key to successful social media engagement is authenticity. Share what feels true to you and what you're comfortable with, and you'll likely find an audience that resonates with your voice and story.

Make a content schedule: You can make a schedule out of these suggestions and post them day by day.

I saw an alarming post today about an old school friend, a senior police officer, who became a victim of identity fraud on Facebook.

Someone created a duplicate profile, attempting to connect with his friends and soliciting money.

This incident, happening to someone so well-versed in security, illustrates that no one is exempt from such digital threats.

This is not an isolated case; many have experienced similar frauds.

Realizing the gravity of this issue, I've put together essential tips to help enhance the security of your Facebook account.

These simple but effective strategies are critical for safeguarding your page.

1. Avoid Suspicious Links: Don't click on links in emails, texts, or messages that seem odd and claim to be from Facebook. Check your Facebook settings to confirm their origin.

2. Don't Download from Strangers: Be cautious with browser extensions and third-party apps. If they sound too perfect or ask for your social media login, it's safer to avoid them.

3. Never Share Personal Info: Ignore requests for your password, social security number, or financial details like credit card numbers.

4. Use Two-Factor Authentication: This extra security step makes it harder for unauthorized users to access your accounts.

5. Unique Passwords: Avoid using the same password for multiple sites to reduce risk.

6. Install Antivirus Software: Keep this software updated and run regular scans for malware.

7. Turn On Login Alerts: Receive notifications if someone tries to log into your account and monitor past sessions for unknown devices.

8. Regular Security Checks: Use Facebook’s Security Checkup Tool for ongoing account protection.

9. For Business Users: Enable Business notifications in Meta Business Manager for updates on account changes.

10. Act fast: If you suspect unauthorized access to your account or can't log in, immediately visit Facebook's help page to recover your account.
