rgd

rgd rgd is a strategic brand development and graphic design consultancy based in Mumbai rgd is a media agnostic strategic design and brand consultancy.

Established in 1997, we have helped over a 100 brands establish their identity and nurture their relationship with consumers, in India and around the world. Somewhere along the way we have become the yardstick against which the design industry in India measures itself. Our belief is strong brands and great design are built through an intelligent combination of brand strategy and design thinking, c

oupled with cultural and social insights, empathy, intuition and common sense! Our team along with our consultants, work through every project, big or small using a rigor based approach. Informed by the past and the future, by the local and the global and by the consumer and her behavior, we arrive at a narrative; the basis on which our creative ideas springboard. Thinslicing, to ask the right questions, or frame the problem is key, and helps us create contextual and culturally valid solutions. Our aim is to listen, distill, and implement with sensitivity, imagination and craftsmanship.

Bidding adieu to the Kaali Peeli.

Unique to this city, the dressed up Premiere Padmini was found on every kerb, and in every byline of Bombay.

Every Bombaywala or Mumbaikar will have their own special story to tell; but as Graphic designers these taxis had quite a different context. We saw them not only as a convenience, but also revelled in
the amazing pastiche of graphics, colours and messages - each one a unique narrative that reflected the taxi driver and his individual style.

On a deeper level however, the integrated use of these disparate motifs, embellishments, and messages cue the assimilative nature of our visual style and attitude.

Inspired by this canvas, we decided to document the taxi graphics in our city, and spend a little of our time blurring boundaries between the vernacular and the cosmopolitan.

From calender art , to product design - we were inspired by the stories and the moving installations.

This experience and these artworks will stay with us, even when the memories fade.

Thankyou birdie for your post ! Got us to look into our archives !

It’s exactly a year since the rebrand of Abraham and Thakore at LFW’22.

And We are just loving the images of their latest collection at LFW’23.

This amazing trio stands steadfast in their design philosophy and simultaneously leaps into the future with such aplomb.

Our favorite ‘Bad Boys of Fashion ‘!!
Thank you for sharing.

with Rabia Gupta

Living and working in Mumbai, we have numerable interactions with our cabs. Either we are in them, or stuck behind them or cursing them for cutting us at a signal.

For Graphic Designers however, these taxis have quite a different context. We see them not only as taxis but also as moving graphic installations.

Unlike their counterparts across the world, our Mumbai cab is not just yellow and black, but almost always a riot of colour. The amazing pastiche of graphics, colours and textures used on these taxis reflect the cab driver/owners individual style. On a deeper level however, the integrated use of these disparate motifs, embellishments, and messages cue the assimilative nature of our visual style and attitude.

Inspired by this canvas, Rabia Gupta and her team decided to document the taxi graphics in our city, and spend a little time blurring boundaries between the vernacular and the cosmopolitan.

Happy Birthday !
We can’t believe it’s a year already. Thank you The Circle India] for the beautiful letter and the delicious cupcakes !
Have to admit this is one brand mark application we never anticipated.

For all the peeps out there on the gram this is one organisation you have to read about and support.

The Circle works to reimagine schools for children in India.
It aims to provide every child with equal and greater opportunities within the reimagined learning environment.

Starting from the name, The Circle sets out to break notions of schools being in boxes, and learning being rote. It’s about reimagining an entirely new and contextual schooling and learning system for all kids across every home in the country.

A revolutionary idea that is one year old and is already coming to fruit through its many programmes and initiatives.

In the last one year, The Circle has hosted two starter programmes which reached thousands of educators; they have rolled out innovation grants, hosted virtual school visits in India and the US, kickstarted the journey for a reimagined Teacher University and last but not the least have begun incubating Entrepreneurs who will soon build their own schools ..
And all this in a year ...mega baby steps we say :)

So Happy Birthday The Circle India] once again from all of us at rgd .. and here’s to many more years of learning, laughing and designing together !
