Inkjet printers is a type of printing machine that produce digital image by propelling droplets of ink onto the paper through the microscopic nozzles found in its printer cartridges. Inkjet printers are mostly used by home users and in micro-office environments, these type of printer is also considered as the best choice for photographers who want to digitally print their photos. But even though we encounter these inkjet printers ever day in our lives, do you exactly have an idea about “what” these machines are really are and “how” were invented?
If not, well, you stumble upon the right article. Below are seven interesting facts one should know about inkjet printers:
The thermal inkjet process was actually discovered by a Canon engineer named Ichiro Endo in August 1977. But the first inkjet printing method ever known was invented by Lord Kelvin, it was known as the continuous inkjet (CIJ) method and used for coding products and packages.
The four major manufacturers of inkjet printers are companies (1) Hewlett-Packard based on Palo Alto, California, (2) Canon, a Japanese multinational company, (3) Epson headquartered in Suwa, Nagano, Japan, and (4) Lexmark, an American corporation based in Kentucky.
Inkjet printers with brand names Canon, Hewlett-Packard and Lexmark uses the thermal inkjet technology, while printers from brand name Epson and Brother Industries uses piezo-electric technology on their design.
Epson develop the micro-piezoelectric technology in the year 1989, this printing technology uses a piezo-electric material in its printer chambers instead of heating materials like those used in thermal inkjet printers.
It was in the year 1988 when Hewlett Packard introduced its DeskJet Printer in the market as a home consumer item. It delivers continuous plain-paper printing at the price of $1000.
There are basically two types of printer head design used in your inkjet printers: (1) the fixed head also known as an inbuilt head print head built to last with your printer’s lifetime and (2) disposable head which are more popular in the market, these is the part found in all replacement inkjet cartridges.
All of the parts that can be found in inkjet cartridges can be recycled, these recycled cartridges are known as remanufactured inkjet cartridges. But still 70% of these printer cartridges end up on our wastelands.
