PRINT SPOOLER ERROR 1068

Sometimes when you try to install the printer on system you get the error of “Windows could not start the print spooler service on the local Computer. Error 1068: The dependancy service or group failed to restart”.

This error may occur when you try to print, when you try to install a printer or when you try to start the spooler service. This error is caused by improper dependencies. Print spooler should have RPC (Remote Procedure Control).

Changing the dependency is easy. Below ia the fix for the error.

Caution :- changing the incorrect value in registry may damage your system. Take a backup of registry before making any changes.

1) click on start and go to run window. Now type regedit.exe and press enter.

2) Browse to the following registry key

Hkey_LOCAL_MACHINE\CurrentContrrolSet\services\spooler.

3) In right side pan double click on DependOnService value

4) Just keep RPCSS and remove anything else in there.

5) close the registry editor and restart the system.

After the system restart try restarting the spooler service from SERVICES.MSC. It should restart properly.

REMOTELY ENABLE RDP & CHANGE FIREWALL SETTINGS

Enabling RDP through remote system

Step 1: Open ports in the Windows firewall

There is no native way to change the settings of a remote Windows firewall. However, you can use PsExec from SysInternals to disable it or change some rules.

If you download the app and drop it into your c:\ drive, you can run this command and get command line access for that remote box.

c:\psexec \\remote_machine_name cmd

Once you have that command line open, you can run this command to disable the firewall:

NetSh Advfirewall set allprofiles state off

Alternatively you can run this command to allow only Remote Desktop while still leaving the rest of the firewall as is:

netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group=”remote desktop” new enable=Yes

Step 2: Change a registry setting to enable Remote Desktop

It’s time to make use of the Remote Registry and actually enable RDP. Load up regedit and go to File > Connect Network Registry. Enter the name of your remote computer and connect to it. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System > CurrentControlSet > Control > Terminal Server. Change the value of “fDenyTSConnections” to “0”.

Step 3: Start the Remote Desktop service

sc \\(system_IP) stop termservice

sc \\(system_IP) start termservice

That’s it now you should be able to take RDP of the remote system

Note: You should run all the commands through administrator login

5 THINGS EVERY COMPUTER USER SHOULD KNOW

Whether you are a Home user or corporate user, there are certain things that you should know even if you are not so tech savvy. We have collected 5 simple steps which you can perform to keep your computer healthy & your digital life safe.

1)Keep your Personal information safe & secure:-
In today’s digital world, Internet helps you to stay connected with everyone. But if you don’t pay proper attention towards your digital self then it can caused you a lot. Make sure you use strong passwords for all your work. When we say strong password, make sure to use alphanumeric password. And don’t use same password everywhere. Simple passwords are easy to break.

2)Protect Yourself from Viruses:-
Windows system has long history of virus infection. It is easy to avoid virus and malware. Install Anti-Virus software on the system. There are so many AV options available to choose from. Best way to avoid virus is to make sure not to open any suspected website or link. Do not install software from unknown source.

3)Computer shortcuts for faster working:-
Computers are faster than humans. Using computer mouse while typing something, consumes some extra time. There are so many shortcuts which can increase your working speed. Some basic shortcuts are Ctrl+ C to copy, Ctrl+ X to Cut, Ctrl+ P to print, etc.You can also use some shortcuts while surfing the Net. Use Ctrl+ T to open new tab & Ctrl+ W to close the current tab.

4)Setting Up Computer Backup:-
We all know how computers backups are important but we always say that we will set it up some day & never do. Setting a computer backup is as easy as you say. You can use build in option from Windows system or can purchase third party software to do so.
5)Keep your computer in good shape:-
Computer maintenance looks very hard for the first time. But nowadays it’s very easy to do maintenance on your computer. Creating a password which is more secure & easy remember is not a difficult task as it seems rather it’s a simple process. I will walk you through this process.

Simple plain passwords are easy to remember and easy to type but they are super easy to break through brute force or dictionary attacks.

Dictionary attacks work through huge list of known dictionary words to break the password. Many people use some basic words as their password which becomes easy target for the attack.

Strong password is a combination of words numbers and special characters which are easy to remember and should have length of at least 8 characters. Recommended Character length is 16.

When we change password every 60, 90 days we have a habit of just changing the last digit of the password. This change will be allowed by the security policy but will not secure the password.

Create a password which is easy to remember as writing your password somewhere is also not a good a habit. Writing password on sticky note and sticking it under keyboard, desk or in worse case on your monitor is as strong as the trust you have on person who enters that room.

Using phrases:-

Phrases are string of words in conjunction together. Using phrases instead of word is always a better idea.

Example- using “brownie” as a password is not that secure as it can be broken through brute force or dictionary attack

Use brownieisyummy instead which will take some time to brake.

Use one capital letter in above password and it will be more secure. Brownieisyummy

Use number at the end and password will be hard to brake. Brownieisyummy2

Use any special character and password breaking will be harder Brownieisyummy@2

Conclusion:- As you can see that using alphanumeric password instead of normal word will create a better password.
