Photosynthesis Bike That Cleans Air While You Ride. This Is So Much Win For The Lungs.
- Ambarish Ganesh.

Cycling is awesome- for the health, and for the environment even. And driving on this thought is this awesome bicycle innovation, that kisses the oncoming air pure while you ride it.

Yes, a Bangkok-based Lightfog Creative & Design Company has formulated a concept that sets up a technology on your bike and registers you as pinnacle of health and Eco-friendliness. This concept even received the Red Dot award recently for its innovation.

Working of the concept vehicle- Now the technology incorporated is such, that the aluminum frame holding the bike generates oxygen via photosynthesis, and thus activates a reaction between water and the electric power derived off the lithium-ion battery.

The aluminum frame is capable enough to convert sunlight into usable energy that shall run the oxygen-producing fuel cell battery.

Between the handlebars is mounted a filter that shall trap particulate elements from the air, and exhales pure fresh air towards the rider. Even when parked, the bike shall be purifying the air using battery power.

Not much is known about the technical details now, but once it comes out in the market, it shall be a huge success with our ‘Go Green’ friend.

Looking ahead to the prototype that’s currently being developed. The concept’s already won hearts, let’s see what the real bike does. Keeping a close eye on its progress.

Facebook is to develop a 'sympathise' button to replace the 'like' button in certain situations.
- Lucy Kinder

If a user tags their status with a negative emotion, then his or her friends will be able to 'sympathise' with the post rather than press the 'like' button.

Until now the ‘like’ button has proved to be unsuitable for use on gloomy occasions such as the death of a pet.

Bad news such as the changing of a relationship status from ‘married’ to ‘divorced’ has also stretched the limits of the feature.

The ‘sympathise’ button emerged at a Facebook ‘hackathon’ event, where the company's engineers come together and brainstorm new ideas.

Many of the site’s most popular features such as the Timeline and even the ‘like’ button have emerged from past such events.

According to Dan Muriello, a software engineer at Facebook, the feature will not work for every post.

However, he said if a user tags a status with certain emotions the result would be "five people sympathise with this," instead of "five people ‘like’ this".

He said: "Which of course a lot of people were – and still are – very excited about.

"But we made a decision that it was not exactly the right time to launch that product. Yet."

Mr Muriello did not give a timeline for when the ‘sympathise’ button might be rolled out.

Facebook has long ruled out the idea of a ‘dislike’ button despite online campaigns by thousands of users on the grounds that it is too negative.

A Facebook spokesman said that hackathons are ‘the foundation for great innovation and thinking about how we can better serve people around the world’.

He added: "Some of our best ideas come from hackathons, and the many ideas that don’t get pursued often help us think differently about how we can improve our service".

Facebook is the largest social network in the world with 1.19 billion users worldwide, of which 24 million are in the UK, or almost half the population.

Email authentication has reduced phishing: Google.
- ANI.

The development of email authentication standards has finally reduced email phishing scams, according to Google security researchers.

Elie Bursztein, Google's anti-abuse research lead, and Vijay Eranti, Gmail's anti-abuse technical lead, said that these authentication standards, called DomainKey Identified Email (DKIM) and Sender Policy Framework (SPF), are now in widespread use, CNET reports.

Internet industry and standards groups have been working since 2004 to get email providers to use authentication to put a halt to e-mail address imitation.

According to the report, more than 3.5 million domains that are active on a weekly basis use the SPF standard, when sending email via SMTP servers, and nearly half-a-million email sending and receiving domains that are active weekly adopted the DKIM standards.

Crazy dual-screen YotaPhone goes on sale.
- By Kate Solomon

The strange yet strangely compelling YotaPhone will actually go on sale in some countries in December.

Although the UK, US and Australia are not first in line for the dual-screen phone, the device is rolling out to more countries in early 2014 and we're confident that the UK, at least, will be among them.

For now, if you want to try the device, which comes with a screen on the back as well as a screen on the front, you'll have to pick one up in Russia, Austria, France, Spain or Germany.
Weird

The Android-running YotaPhone comes with a standard 4.3-inch 720p LCD screen on the front and another 4.3-inch e-ink screen on the back - the idea being that it's perfect for ebook reading.

The other major benefit of an e-ink screen is that it can display images and information even if the phone runs out of battery - we can think of a few times having a saved map that we could still see when our phones died could have saved our bacon.

The YotaPhone also prides itself on its touchy-feely emotional approach - kooky messages like "Smile for the camera" come up on the second screen when you're taking a picture, for example. It's not clear if these can be disabled or not.

And this is just the beginning, the company's head honchos say: "This is YotaPhone 1.0. Expect other big and new things to follow."

If the first YotaPhone takes your fancy, pricing has been announced as €499 across Europe - likely to be around £420 in the UK, and $680 and AU$750 if it makes it round the world.
