Citrini & Alap Shah have just written a haunting & disturbing piece on the 2028 Global Intelligence Crisis.
Set in mid 2028, it shows us a movie with AI as the villain, devouring most industries (instead of just disrupting them) on a permanent basis leading to massive job losses and consequences for labor markets, credit markets, mortgages, taxes and society.
It ends with the caution "As a society, we still have time to be proactive. The canary is still alive."
So far the markets have mainly brushed off the AI risks for the economy as a whole - only SaaS and IT stocks have crashed. But judging by their current wobble (temporarily at least), this piece has got the conversation started.
Let's hope that we can keep these doomsday scenarios at bay and find ways to manage the rise of AI.
