CREAL light-field technology in AR glasses

The light-field projector is embedded in the arms of the glasses and bounces the light-field components from a holographic combiner (placed in the glass itself) to the eye. Each light-field component enters the eye through slightly different perspectives.

Light-field reconstructs the light just like it exists in the real world. The digital objects therefore perfectly fuze into reality. The continuous focus depth offers a natural visual experience free of any eye-strain, nausea and conflicts between real and virtual objects.

The best semiconductor of them all - SILICON

Silicon is one of the most abundant elements on Earth, and in its pure form the material has become the foundation of much of modern technology, from solar cells to computer chips. But silicon’s properties as a semiconductor are far from ideal.

Team of researchers at the University of Houston, and other institutions has carried out experiments showing that a material known as cubic boron arsenide overcomes both of these limitations. It provides high mobility to both electrons and holes, and has excellent thermal conductivity. It is, the researchers say, the best semiconductor material ever found, and maybe the best possible one.

How do plants prepare for the winter?

All summer, with the long hours of sunlight and a good supply of liquid water, plants are busy making and storing food, and growing. But what about wintertime? The days are much shorter, and water is hard to get. Plants have found many different ways to get through the harsh days of winter.

When winter comes, the woody parts of trees and shrubs can survive the cold. The above ground parts of herbaceous plants (leaves, stalks) will die off, but underground parts (roots, bulbs) will remain alive. In the winter, plants rest and live off stored food until spring.
