🚀 National Space Day 2026 Celebrated at Pilikula Regional Science Centre! 🌙🛰️

Pilikula Regional Science Centre, Mangaluru, successfully organised a three-day series of programmes from 21st to 23rd August 2026 to commemorate **National Space Day 2026**.

The programme brought together around 500 students and teachers and provided an exciting platform to explore Space Science, Astronomy, Astrophotography, Space Robotics, Satellite Technology and Lunar Exploration.

✨ Day 1 – Pre-University Students
Students participated in an informative HAM Radio session and demonstration, an engaging session on Astrophotography, a guided tour of the interactive science galleries, and the special planetarium show “The Moon.”

🔭 Day 2 – High School Students
The day featured an interactive session on Astrophotography an inspiring session on **Space Robotics by Dr. Pruthviraj Umesh, NITK, Surathkal**, and practical robotics demonstrations by the NITK RoboCon team. Students also experienced “The Moon” planetarium show and a documentary on Chandrayaan.

👩‍🏫 Day 3 – Physics Lecturers
A one-day workshop for Physics lecturers was jointly organised with U. R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), ISRO, Bengaluru, and the Association of Physics Lecturers of Pre-University Colleges, Dakshina Kannada. Sessions covered India’s Space Programme, Satellite Technology and “Exploration of the Moon: Past, Present and Future,” along with a quiz and planetarium show.

🌟 The three-day celebration successfully fostered scientific curiosity and greater interest in space science and research, connecting classroom learning with real-world applications in space science and technology.

🚀 ಪಿಲಿಕುಳ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆ – 2026 🌙🛰️

ಪಿಲಿಕುಳ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಕೇಂದ್ರ, ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 21ರಿಂದ 23ರವರೆಗೆ ಮೂರು ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆ – 2026ರ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ವಿವಿಧ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಾಧಾರಿತ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಸುಮಾರು 500 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ, ಖಗೋಳಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ, ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೋಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಫಿ, ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ರೋಬೋಟಿಕ್ಸ್, ಉಪಗ್ರಹ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಂದ್ರನ ಅನ್ವೇಷಣೆ ಕುರಿತು ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಗಳು, ಪ್ರಾತ್ಯಕ್ಷಿಕೆಗಳು, ಸಂವಾದಾತ್ಮಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ತಾರಾಲಯ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

✨ ಮೊದಲ ದಿನ – ಪದವಿ ಪೂರ್ವ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ
ಹ್ಯಾಮ್ ರೇಡಿಯೋ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾತ್ಯಕ್ಷಿಕೆ, ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೋಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಫಿ ಕುರಿತ ವಿಶೇಷ ಅಧಿವೇಶನ, ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಗ್ಯಾಲರಿಗಳ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶಿತ ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಹಾಗೂ “ದಿ ಮೂನ್” ವಿಶೇಷ ತಾರಾಲಯ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

🔭 ಎರಡನೇ ದಿನ – ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲಾ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ
ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೋಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಫಿ ಕುರಿತು ಸಂವಾದಾತ್ಮಕ ಅಧಿವೇಶನದೊಂದಿಗೆ NITK, ಸುರತ್ಕಲ್‌ನ ಸಹ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಡಾ. ಪೃಥ್ವಿರಾಜ್ ಉಮೇಶ್ ಅವರು ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ರೋಬೋಟಿಕ್ಸ್ ಕುರಿತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು. NITK RoboCon ತಂಡವು ರೋಬೋಟಿಕ್ಸ್‌ನ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕ ಪ್ರಾತ್ಯಕ್ಷಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿತು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ “ದಿ ಮೂನ್” ತಾರಾಲಯ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಂದ್ರಯಾನ ಕುರಿತ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

👩‍🏫 ಮೂರನೇ ದಿನ – ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರಿಗಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರ
ಯು. ಆರ್. ರಾವ್ ಉಪಗ್ರಹ ಕೇಂದ್ರ (URSC), ISRO, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಹಾಗೂ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪದವಿ ಪೂರ್ವ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರ ಸಂಘದ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ದಿನದ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಭಾರತೀಯ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ, ಉಪಗ್ರಹ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಂದ್ರನ ಅನ್ವೇಷಣೆಯ ಭೂತ, ವರ್ತಮಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಕುರಿತು ವಿಶೇಷ ಅಧಿವೇಶನಗಳು ನಡೆದವು. ರಸಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಹಾಗೂ “ದಿ ಮೂನ್” ತಾರಾಲಯ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನವೂ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿತ್ತು.

🌟 ಮೂರು ದಿನಗಳ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರಲ್ಲಿ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಕುತೂಹಲವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಮೂಡಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಯಿತು.

🧬 OLYMPIAD BIOLOGY TRAINING WORKSHOP – 2026 🔬

A one-day Olympiad Biology Training Workshop for Biology Lecturers from selected Pre-University Colleges of Dakshina Kannada district was successfully conducted on 13 August 2026 at the Pilikula Regional Science Centre, Mangaluru, in collaboration with the Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL), Mangaluru.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Arun Kumar Shetty N., Commissioner, Pilikula Development Authority. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the importance of providing quality knowledge to students in today’s competitive world and emphasized the need to equip teachers with the right skills to prepare students for Olympiad-level competitions.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Sasikumar N. Menon, Director, Institute of Advanced Research in Interdisciplinary Sciences, Mumbai, stressed the importance of making effective use of the one-day training and taking the knowledge and practical experience gained back to their respective colleges.

The programme was presided over by Prof. G. Sreenikethan, Chairman, Pilikula Development Authority Sub-Committee, who emphasized the need to strengthen Biology education through advanced training and capacity building for lecturers, particularly at the grassroots level.

The workshop featured hands-on practical demonstrations and interactive sessions conducted in three different sections under the guidance of Prof. Sasikumar N. Menon and his team. The concluding session included discussions on the outcomes of the practical demonstrations and clarification of participants’ queries.

Mr. Vijay Moras, Trustee, Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL), Mangaluru, and Prof. Smitha Hegde, Principal, CFAL, Mangaluru, were present.

The programme was welcomed and introduced by Dr. Ashok K. R., Director, Pilikula Regional Science Centre. Mr. Jagannath, Curator, coordinated the programme, and Dr. Rashmi Bhat, CFAL, proposed the vote of thanks.

The participating lecturers appreciated the initiative and expressed their interest in having more such practical and subject-oriented training programmes conducted regularly.

🌕 International Moon Day 2026 🚀

Pilikula Regional Science Centre celebrated International Moon Day on 20 July 2026, bringing together over 200 students and teachers from schools and PU colleges across Dakshina Kannada for a day of inspiration, learning, and scientific exploration.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. P. G. Diwakar, Distinguished Scientist and Former Scientific Secretary, ISRO, and presently Director, Centre for Sustainability, Chanakya University, Bengaluru. In his inspiring address, he highlighted India's extraordinary achievements through the Chandrayaan missions and emphasized that the nation's progress in space science should motivate every student to dream big, think scientifically, and contribute to India's future space missions through knowledge, innovation, and perseverance.

The event was graced by Shri H. R. Eshwar, Block Education Officer, Mangaluru South Zone, who encouraged students to cultivate curiosity and make the best use of their student life through discipline and dedicated learning. Dr. Sriniketan, Former Dean, NITK and Chairman of the Pilikula Development Authority Sub-Committee, wished that the aspirations of young scientists would soar as high as India's Chandrayaan missions. Presiding over the programme, Dr. Ashok, Director of Pilikula Regional Science Centre, urged students to harness emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, to build knowledge, creativity, and innovation for a developed India.

The celebration included an enlightening lecture on India's space programme and the Chandrayaan missions, an engaging "Moon and Space" quiz, hands-on scientific demonstrations at the Innovation Hub, and a special planetarium show titled The Moon. The enthusiastic participation of students reflected the growing interest among young minds in astronomy, space science, and scientific innovation.

The programme reaffirmed Pilikula Regional Science Centre's commitment to nurturing scientific temper and inspiring the next generation of innovators, explorers, and space scientists.

🌕 ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಚಂದ್ರ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆ – 2026 🚀

ಪಿಲಿಕುಳ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ 2026ರ ಜುಲೈ 20ರಂದು ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಚಂದ್ರ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಜೃಂಭಣೆಯಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ವಿವಿಧ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಪದವಿಪೂರ್ವ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳಿಂದ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ಸುಮಾರು 200ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಹಾಗೂ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶದ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಲೋಕವನ್ನು ಅರಿಯುವ ಅಪೂರ್ವ ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರೋದ ಮಾಜಿ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಚಾಣಕ್ಯ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಸೆಂಟರ್ ಫಾರ್ ಸಸ್ಟೈನಬಿಲಿಟಿ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಾದ ಡಾ. ಪಿ. ಜಿ. ದಿವಾಕರ್ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿ, ಚಂದ್ರಯಾನ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಭಾರತವು ವಿಶ್ವದ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆದಿರುವ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ, ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯತ್ತ ಯುವಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ, ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಮನೋಭಾವ ಹಾಗೂ ನವೋತ್ಸಾಹವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ವಲಯದ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಹೆಚ್. ಆರ್. ಈಶ್ವರ್ ಅವರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಸಮಯವನ್ನು ಸದುಪಯೋಗಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಶಿಸ್ತು, ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತು ದೃಢ ಗುರಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಉನ್ನತ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಎನ್‌ಐಟಿಕೆಯ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಡೀನ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಪಿಲಿಕುಳ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಪ್ರಾಧಿಕಾರದ ಉಪಸಮಿತಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಡಾ. ಶ್ರೀನಿಕೇತನ್ ಅವರು ಯುವ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳ ಕನಸುಗಳು ಚಂದ್ರಯಾನದ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿನಂತೆ ಎತ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾರಲಿ ಎಂದು ಹಾರೈಸಿದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಪಿಲಿಕುಳ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಾದ ಡಾ. ಅಶೋಕ್ ಅವರು ಕೃತಕ ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತ್ತೆ (AI) ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಆಧುನಿಕ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಗಳನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಸದುಪಯೋಗಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಜ್ಞಾನ, ಕೌಶಲ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ನವೋದ್ಯಮದ ಮನೋಭಾವವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಭಾರತದ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ, ಚಂದ್ರಯಾನ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಚಂದ್ರನ ಕುರಿತ ವಿಶೇಷ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸ, "ಚಂದ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ" ವಿಷಯದ ರಸಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ, ಇನ್ನೋವೇಶನ್ ಹಬ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿನ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಮಾದರಿಗಳ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾತ್ಯಕ್ಷಿಕೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ತಾರಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ “The Moon” ವಿಶೇಷ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಕುತೂಹಲ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಮೂಡಿಸಿತು.

ವಿಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಜನಸಾಮಾನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೂ ಮುಂದಿನ ತಲೆಮಾರಿನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವ ಪಿಲಿಕುಳ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಸಾರ್ಥಕಗೊಳಿಸಿತು.

ಪಿಲಿಕುಳ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ 2026ರ ಜೂನ್ 30 ರಂದು ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಕ್ಷುದ್ರಗ್ರಹ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ವಿವಿಧ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಗಳ ಸುಮಾರು 200 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಖಗೋಳಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಕುರಿತು ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರು ಹಾಗೂ ಹವ್ಯಾಸಿ ಖಗೋಳಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞರಾದ ಡಾ. ರಮೇಶ್ ಎಂ. ಭಟ್ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿ, ಕ್ಷುದ್ರಗ್ರಹಗಳ ಉಗಮ, ರಾಸಾಯನಿಕ ಸಂಯೋಜನೆ, ಕುಬ್ಜ ಗ್ರಹಗಳು, ಉಲ್ಕೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಧೂಮಕೇತುಗಳ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಕ್ಷುದ್ರಗ್ರಹಗಳ ಅಧ್ಯಯನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿರುವ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸಬಹುದಾದ ಕ್ಷುದ್ರಗ್ರಹಗಳ ಅಪ್ಪಳಿಸುವಿಕೆಯ ಅಪಾಯವನ್ನು ತಡೆಯಲು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಘ್ನೇಶ್ ಭಟ್ ಅವರು ಖಗೋಳ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ರಸಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ, ಇನ್ನೋವೇಶನ್ ಹಬ್‌ನ ಮೆಂಟರ್‌ಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಹೃತಿಕ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀಶಾಂತ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಅವರು ವಿವಿಧ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಪ್ರಾಜೆಕ್ಟ್‌ಗಳ ಪ್ರಾತ್ಯಕ್ಷಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಿದರು. ತಾರಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾದ ಲೈವ್ ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೋನಮಿ ಶೋ ಹಾಗೂ "ಟು ಪೀಸಸ್ ಆಫ್ ಗ್ಲಾಸ್" ವಿಶೇಷ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನವು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕುತೂಹಲ ಮತ್ತು ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಮನೋಭಾವವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ವೃದ್ಧಿಸಿತು.

🌍☄️ International Asteroid Day – 2026 🚀

The Pilikula Regional Science Centre celebrated International Asteroid Day on 30 June 2026, bringing together around 200 students and teachers from various high schools across Dakshina Kannada district. The event provided participants with valuable insights into space science and astronomy through engaging talks, demonstrations, and interactive activities.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Ramesh M. Bhat, retired Principal and amateur astronomer, who delivered an informative session on the origin and chemical composition of asteroids, dwarf planets, meteors, and comets, highlighting their scientific significance. He also explained the ongoing research carried out by international space agencies to study asteroids and discussed the advanced technologies being developed to detect and prevent potential asteroid impacts on Earth.

As part of the programme, Mr. Vignesh Bhat, Scientific Officer of the Centre, conducted an engaging astronomy quiz, while Mr. Hrithik and Mr. Sreeshanth Shetty, mentors of the Innovation Hub, showcased a variety of innovative science projects through live demonstrations.

The celebrations also featured an exciting Live Astronomy Show in the planetarium and a special screening of "Two Pieces of Glass", both of which inspired curiosity and strengthened the scientific temper of the participating students by offering a fascinating glimpse into the wonders of the universe.
