Take a Stand Against Ageism. Value Every Second You Spend with Elder.
The International Day of Older Persons is observed on October 1 each year.
On December 14, 1990 the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons as recorded in Resolution. Celebrated by raising awareness about issues affecting the elderly, such as senescence and elder abuse. It is also a day to appreciate the contributions that older people make to society.
is with the society on this and sends a message to every one to take care of elders, when they are still there with you. Cherish each and every second that you spend with them.
As a society and as individuals we need to realise that older people are not a burden but have much of continuing and even increased value to contribute as they age; and that older people who are valued live healthier, more productive and more fulfilling lives. Also, governments and the community must work together to take a stand against ageism as a major curse in our society.
