Did you know your keyboard was designed to slow you down? ๐คฏ
Back in the 1870s, early typewriters had a big problemโif you typed too fast, the mechanical arms would jam! ๐ซ Frustrated by constant clogs, inventor Christopher Sholes came up with a clever fix: he rearranged the keys to force typists to type slower.
The QWERTY layout (named after the first six letters on the top row) spread common letter pairs apart, reducing jams. And guess what? It worked! Even though modern keyboards donโt have this issue, QWERTY stuck around.
Funny enough, some say DVORAK (a more efficient layout) lets you type fasterโbut after 150 years, weโre still hooked on QWERTY! ๐
Ever tried a different keyboard layout? Or do you have a love-hate relationship with QWERTY? Drop a comment! ๐
