On World Oceans Day, the United Nations urges us to ‘reimagine’ our relationship with the ocean. The mystic blue living system is very much a part of us – the air we inhale, the food we eat, and the climate that regulates our lives are all gifts of our shared ocean.

Our ocean is in danger! Research reveals that overfishing and pollution have depleted 90% of big fish populations. 50% of the world’s coral reefs have been destroyed.

World Oceans Day is observed as a reminder to unite globally to protect our blue planet. The day calls for a mobilisation to act collectively and educate the masses to protect the marine ecosystems.

The 2026 Action Theme is Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet.

Let’s act together to create a strongly regulated Marine Protected Area (MPA) for a healthy, resilient, and sustainable marine environment. Promote sustainable practices, reduce plastic waste, and support ocean conservation efforts.
