Today, Information Technology is one among the fastest growing sectors in the business market. To support this cause the government of Kerala came up with an idea of establishing ITES. The government took up the IT mission as part of the State’s development process through these IT enabled services. This dream of the Kerala State IT mission came to life with the establishment of the ITES Habitat C
entre in the year 2003. ITES aims at providing facilitation and training services for the IT/ITeS sector and the year 2007 brought life to this dream of the KSITM. The ITES Habitat Centre is located inside the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Kaloor, Cochin. The Cochin Greater Development Authority is the proud owner of the space occupied by the ITES Habitat Centre. They entered into an agreement with the Kerala State IT mission before renting out the space to them. Since the year 2007, all kinds of businesses and IT firms ranging from the small to the medium sized ones have been enjoying the basic infrastructure services and the other related facilities. Small entrepreneurs who are new and struggling to establish a foothold in the IT sector are among the ones who have mostly benefitted from these services. The Kerala State IT Mission is directly responsible for the administrative and management services of the ITES Habitat Centre at Kaloor. A mission coordinator is always available at the Centre and is responsible to handle and coordinate all the related activities at the Centre. The overall structure and activities are so well planned and designed that the Centre can stand by itself without any monetary back up from any kind of external sources. The space occupied by the ITES in the E-Sector wing of the JNIS accounts to a total of 25845 sq ft. Out of this space around 14763 sq ft has already been transformed into cubicles to accommodate work space for, emerging IT facilitators. The work on the cubicle division and partitioning began in the year 2002 which came to an end by the year 2006. Each cubicle occupies around 100 to 700 sq ft of the total space. The year 2012 witnessed the development of the next phase of the project with the successful completion of around 23 cubicles each occupying around 100-500 sq ft of the remaining available area.
