This is a schematic diagram for an adjustable 0–15V, 5A linear power supply circuit. It uses an operational amplifier for regulation and a P-channel MOSFET as the main pass element.
Circuit Components & Functions
Input Power: Takes an unregulated DC input of 0–18V (5A max).
Voltage Reference: The zener diode D1 (5.1V) creates a stable reference voltage, filtered by capacitor C1.
Control Element (Op-Amp): The LM358 (IC1a) acts as an error amplifier. It compares the reference voltage from the potentiometer P1 against the feedback voltage from the output.
Driver Stage: The BC337 NPN transistor amplifies the control signal from the op-amp to drive the heavy gate capacitance of the MOSFET.
Pass Element (MOSFET): The RFP30P05 P-channel MOSFET controls the heavy load current (up to 5A) flowing to the output by varying its internal resistance based on the gate voltage.
Output Voltage Range: Adjustable from 0V to 15V using the 5K potentiometer (P1).
Protection & Indicator: D3 (MBR 1645 Schottky diode) prevents reverse current from damaging the circuit, while D2 serves as a power indicator LED.
