โ€‹Did you know the first device ever connected to the ARPANET (the precursor to the internet) was not a computer in the way we typically think of them today, but a Terminal Interface Processor (TIP)?
โ€‹In 1969, the very first node of ARPANET went live at UCLA, with a TIP acting as the bridge between UCLA's SDS Sigma 7 computer and the network. The TIP was essentially a mini-computer designed specifically to handle network communication, translating data between the host computer and the ARPANET.
โ€‹It was this humble TIP that received the famous "LO" of the "LOGIN" message in the first successful host-to-host connection from Stanford, marking the birth of packet-switched communication!

๐Ÿ”Œ Found a USB drive? Think twice before plugging it in! While a seemingly innocuous USB stick might look like a harmless piece of tech, plugging an unknown drive into your computer can pose a significant cybersecurity risk.
This is a common tactic used by cybercriminals, sometimes called "USB drops" or "BadUSB" attacks. They rely on curiosity to get you to compromise your own system.
Here's why you should be extremely cautious:
* Malware Infection: The drive could be loaded with viruses, ransomware, or spyware designed to automatically install and infect your computer the moment you plug it in.
* Data Theft: Some malicious USBs can immediately steal data from your computer without any visible signs.
* "BadUSB" Attacks: More sophisticated drives can even impersonate a keyboard and quickly type commands into your computer, installing malware or changing settings.
What to do if you find an unknown USB drive:
* DO NOT plug it into your computer or any other device.
* Turn it over to IT security if you're at work/school, or dispose of it safely.
It's tempting to see what's on it, but the risk to your personal data and device security is simply not worth it. Stay safe and avoid the temptation!

Did you know the "HTTPS" you see in website addresses, which signals a secure connection, originally stood for "Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure"?
โ€‹While that might sound technical, its main job is simple: to encrypt the communication between your web browser and the website you're visiting. This encryption protects your sensitive information (like passwords and credit card details) from being intercepted by malicious parties.
โ€‹The development of HTTPS and SSL/TLS encryption in the mid-1990s was crucial for enabling e-commerce and making online transactions safe, fundamentally changing how we use the internet today!
