🚀 Announcing Drupal 12.0.0 Platform Requirements

Drupal 12 development has reached an exciting milestone! As the project evolves, updated system requirements are being introduced to ensure better performance, security, and modern compatibility. Here’s what you need to know 👇

🌐 Web Server
No changes here — Drupal 12 continues to support:
• Apache 2.4.7+
• Nginx 1.1+
❌ IIS is not supported

🐘 PHP
• Minimum required version: PHP 8.5
⚠️ Older PHP versions will no longer be supported

🗄️ Database
Updated minimum versions:
• MySQL 8.0 (unchanged)
• MariaDB 10.11 (upgraded from 10.6)
• PostgreSQL 18 (upgraded from 16)
• SQLite 3.45 (unchanged)

📦 Composer
• Recommended: Composer 2.9.3 (latest secure release)

✅ Filter Improvements – Validation can now throw exceptions
✅ Memory Safety – New max_memory_limit INI directive
✅ cURL Upgrade – New curl_multi_get_handles() function
✅ Internationalization Boost – New IntlListFormatter class
✅ CLI Power – php --ini=diff shows only non-default INI settings
✅ Array Helpers – New array_first() and array_last() functions
✅ RTL Support – locale_is_right_to_left() & Locale::isRightToLeft()
✅ Better Debugging – Stack traces for PHP Fatal Errors
✅ Handler Access – get_exception_handler() & get_error_handler()

❌ Non-canonical scalar casts (boolean|double|integer|binary)
❌ mysqli_execute() → use mysqli_stmt_execute()
❌ curl_close() & curl_share_close() (no-op since PHP 8.0)
❌ xml_parser_free() (no-op)
❌ socket_set_timeout() → use stream_set_timeout()
❌ Output from custom output buffer handlers
❌ All MHASH_* constants

🗑️ Removed in PHP 8.5

🚫 CLI/CGI -z / --zend-extension option removed
