Grateful to Dr. Prema and Unesco Chair on Assistive Technology for having me on the panel discussion "Inclusive Education in Practice"

“All spoken languages are effectively foreign languages to Deaf learners.” — Ms. Monica Punjabi

For more than two decades, Ms. Monica Punjabi, Director of the Indore Deaf Bilingual Academy, has worked to make education more accessible and meaningful for Deaf learners. Her efforts have helped build a bilingual education model in which Indian Sign Language [ISL] forms the foundation for learning, enabling Deaf students to understand academic concepts through their own language.

She has also contributed to national ISL curriculum development through the Rehabilitation Council of India and continues to advocate for Deaf rights, accessibility and inclusion beyond the classroom.

Ms. Monica Punjabi was a featured panellist in Webinar #2, “Inclusive Education in Practice,” organised as part of the quarterly Voices of Persons with Disabilities series.
