Learn
Today's Topic : Asymmetric Dominance Effect

The Asymmetric Dominance Effect, also known as the Decoy Effect, is a psychological phenomenon observed in decision making.
In the context of , it refers to the scenario where the introduction of a third, less attractive option (the "decoy") makes one of the other two options appear more attractive.
This can influence 's choices and lead them to make the decision that the intended.
For example, in a pricing strategy, a company may present three packages: basic, premium, and a third option priced closely to the premium but with fewer features. This makes the premium package seem like a better deal, steering users towards that option.

Hello Everyone πŸ˜„

Another tip πŸ’‘:
"Create your interface in such a way that the content (specifically text) can be scaled up to 200% or more".

Creating an that can scale up to 200% is necessary for because it allows users with visual impairments or those who prefer larger text to easily read and use the hashtag . This feature helps to make the interface more inclusive and user-friendly, as it addresses the diverse needs of all . Without this scalability, some users might struggle to read or interact with the content, causing frustration and exclusion. By prioritizing accessibility, we can create a more welcoming and accommodating hashtag environment for everyone πŸ˜„ .

Hello Everyone πŸ˜„
Today's Topic Chunking.

Chunking is a concept derived from cognitive that is frequently applied in . The is to break up information into groups or "chunks" to make it easier to process and remember. This is based on the understanding that the human brain can only hold a limited amount of information in working memory at one time. By grouping related items together, we can help users comprehend and remember the more easily.

Examples of Chunking in UX Design:
1. Menu Categories in or :
A common example of chunking in design is the way menu items are grouped into categories on websites or apps. This makes it easier for users to find what they're looking for, as they can focus on a smaller set of relevant options.

2. Form Fields:
In online forms, related fields are often grouped together. For example, you might see all the contact information fields (like name, email, and phone number) grouped together separately from payment information (like credit card number and expiry date).

3. Information Cards:
On a product page, information might be into separate cards, like a card for product details, another for reviews, and another for shipping info. This helps users focus on one type of at a time.

4. Step-by-step Processes: When need to complete a complex task, it can be broken down into smaller steps. Each step represents a chunk of the process, making it more manageable.

By using these and other chunking strategies, can make information and tasks more manageable and less overwhelming for users.

Hello Everyone πŸ˜ƒ ,

Ever wondered πŸ€” why you never wanted to read "Terms and Conditions" - not because only it's too long πŸ“„ (since you read more long blogs) but also because it's less hashtag . In some cases, companies don't want their users to let know that information loud and clear. Similarly, in some advertisements related to money, the "risky" message is very small or said very quickly. Well, they do it intentionally. We need to be aware of such UX practices.
Talk about readability: Text is the most common way of communicating and representing ideas. if you can't improve the readability of the text, it can't be consumed easily, and you will lose users and eventually fail your executive intent. There are many ways and factors that influence readability, like:

Font-size: which should be large enough for users to read it easily, If you are using small fonts, keep them semibold or bold.

Opacity and contrast: It should blend with the background and have a minimum AA+ contrast rating as per WCAG guidelines;
check here: https://lnkd.in/dnreF7D8

Line height: The height between the baselines of the text should be enough so that it will not look cluttered, far away, or considered as a different paragraph unintentionally.
The golden rule is to set the line height at 120% to 160%. As the font size increases, the proportionate line height decreases.

Letter spacing: Make sure your users can easily distinguish between works and letters by spacing between words. When in doubt, set it to 0% or default.

White space: It's one of the most crucial elements as it provides breathing space, guides our eyes to the proper flow, and helps to maintain the hierarchy between elements. It makes it easy to read and understand the content.

For freshmen, it's always been a problem to create a perfect portfolio. Since it's your portfolio, it reflects you; it should be perfect for you so you can create as you want, but some tips to make your portfolio better:

1. Don't have enough projects:
With the increase in online resources you can do the following:
β€’ evaluation of an existing product.
β€’ Perform testing with locals (if they fit the target audience) for an existing app and, based on that, improve the product.
β€’ Create concept using a problem statement generator creator, e.g., https://sharpen.design/
β€’ Attempt the Daily UI Challenge Daily UI : https://www.dailyui.co/ and post it on Dribbble
β€’ Participate in challenges.
β€’ As you apply for jobs, you will get assignments. Revamp it so your other project is ready.
β€’ Create a kit or small design system for a local brand.

2. Don't add everything to your portfolio:
Show only the best work, even if it's just 2–3 projects. You can use ADPList (https://adplist.org/) for portfolio reviews with industry experts or find mentors here as well.

3. Add at least 1 or 2 case studies that showcase your and decisions. It plays a big role in selecting your portfolio for the next round.

4. Don't just fill in the template:
Don't add all the , , etc. methods in the case study just to make it long; recruiters will easily find it. Instead, use relevant methods that are required for that scenario only.

5. Don't create your personal portfolio right away.
If you are confident about your skills and have enough projects, then only create your personal portfolio website; otherwise, it will look empty, or you might overdo animation or choose too many fancy colors and images, drastically decreasing your chances of getting selected. So it's better to use Behance or other online portfolio websites at the beginning.

You have probably heard of Norman Gate in hashtag , If not:
Norman gate is a door (named after Don Norman - father of UX) that confuses and sometimes embarrasses users whether to pull or push to open it.
While creating the design we also need to take care that the design elements or patterns are self-explanatory and user will know how they work just by seeing them.
Below is one of the many examples that shows how a basic checkbox creates a big difference and lets users know that all of the options are selectable and what they have selected. In case no option is selected the "unselected state" lets the user know that they can select multiple of those options.

Hello πŸ˜ƒ , Another quick hashtag tip πŸ‘‡ :
A quick tip to design or select for your product:
On , Illustrator or other design tools, the icon sizes can be different from each other by some pixels, but make sure they visually πŸ‘€ look the same.
The main frame's size (including the icon and touch area) should be the same as per pixel so that when the user clicks on it, the visual feedback should be of the same size for all icons.
While exporting, add a transparent rectangle of the same size for all icons so that there should be no hassle in development πŸ’» as well.
