5 BIG mistakes freelancers must stop making:
Mistake #1: Complaining. I'm not getting any job invites, my proposals aren't working, Upwork is too saturated, Upwork is a race to the bottom, etc.
Solution: Stop complaining and focus on improving at least 1% every day. Look in the mirror. It's not Upwork's fault, it's yours.
Mistake #2: Minimal Effort. You put in the least amount of effort possible, but expect to win jobs and make money like the most successful freelancers.
Solution: Eliminate distractions and WORK. You will get out of freelancing what you're willing to put into it.
Mistake #3: Selfish Mindset. You have an inability to understand the client and only focus on your own wants/needs.
Solution: Think about the client first and how you can provide value to their business. Making money is the consequence of helping people get what they want.
Mistake #4: Impatience. You expect to be making tons of money, getting job invites, and being able to quit your 9 to 5 job in the first week after creating your profile.
Solution: Play the long game and outwork everyone. Upwork is a marathon, not a sprint.
Mistake #5: Excuses. You never take accountability and always place the blame on others. It's never your fault.
Solution: Look in the mirror and ask, "What can I do to improve?" Don't be quick to place the blame on others. 99% of the time, it's on you. Hold yourself accountable.
