Sainik School Tragedy: Bail Hearing Ends in Controversy

Pasighat, November 11:
In a shocking development, the bail hearing of the accused students in the Sainik School Niglok student death case took an unexpected turn when the Principal Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) recused himself from delivering the order.

According to Tadu Nancy, the sister of the deceased student Late Tadu Haro, the Magistrate abruptly left the courtroom without providing a clear reason. The JJB later issued a verdict placing the accused students under the custody of the school’s Vice Principal, allowing them to stay separately on the campus instead of being sent to a juvenile home.

This decision has sparked widespread outrage among the public and parents, who have raised serious concerns about the fairness of the judicial process.

Parents of other students at Sainik School expressed deep concern for their children’s safety, particularly after reports emerged that the accused students were seen mingling with others—playing and eating together—just days after being placed under the Vice Principal’s custody on November 4.

The controversy deepened after CCTV footage of the incident surfaced, revealing disturbing details of the punishment and harassment endured by the victim. The footage reportedly shows Class 8 students initially punishing Haro for 30 minutes, during which he was visibly trembling. Later, Class 10 students collectively punished all Class 7 students, including Haro, before targeting him individually once again.

A Class 11 student is seen in the footage attempting to intervene and stop the punishment, but by then, the victim had already suffered severe mental and physical torture for nearly three hours.

The bereaved family has demanded that the accused students be removed from the school and placed in a juvenile home until the investigation concludes. They have also urged the authorities to implement strict anti-ragging measures to ensure student safety on campus.

In a new development, three additional students have been implicated after a review of the CCTV footage. Although initially cleared of involvement, the footage allegedly confirms their participation in the ragging and physical abuse. The victim’s parents have announced plans to file a formal complaint against these three students as well.

The next bail hearing in the case is scheduled for November 15, and the victim’s family has urged authorities to review the CCTV backup for the past 15 days to identify everyone involved.

The tragic incident and the subsequent handling of the case have ignited public anger and calls for justice, with many demanding strict legal action against all those responsible and greater accountability from the school authorities.
